Nalagi Hotel

I don’t usually leave negative reviews, but I feel compelled to share my experience in the hope that it encourages some improvements. Unfortunately, my stay at Nalagi Hotel was far below my expectations. From the moment I checked in, the experience got off to a disappointing start. The front desk attendant was cold and unwelcoming, never made eye contact, and didn’t smile once. She appeared annoyed to be there, which was a stark contrast to the genuine warmth and hospitality I experienced at other hotels in Nadi during this trip. The room was spacious, but it lacked thoughtful design and attention to detail. The main light switch is inconveniently located below the television, with no bedside lamps or nightstands, meaning that if you wanted to read in bed or simply turn the lights off, you had to get up each time. There was also a persistent unpleasant odor coming from the bathroom drain, and overall cleanliness and maintenance left much to be desired. The hotel feels worn and tired, as though very little care has gone into its upkeep. That’s perhaps the biggest disappointment, because the property has so much potential that simply isn’t being realized. The final straw came on my second night. I was repeatedly woken between 1:00 and 2:00 a.m. by neighboring guests who were aggressively banging on a nearby door so loudly it sounded as though they were trying to break it down. Once they eventually got into the room, the noise continued. I called reception to report the disturbance and was told security would be sent, but if they did come, it had little effect. Eventually, I had to get out of bed and ask the guests myself to keep the noise down. I genuinely wanted to enjoy my stay, but the combination of poor service, lack of maintenance, hygiene concerns, and the handling of the late-night disturbance made for a very disappointing experience. With better management, staff training, and investment in the property, Nalagi Hotel could be a wonderful place to stay. Sadly, that was not my experience.

The hotel is located on the edge of Denarau Island, offering peace and quiet with a long stretch of beach. Most of the staff are enthusiastic and try their best to assist guests, and I felt their warmth throughout my stay. Some facilities are a bit poorly maintained, for example, one of the swimming pools was very dirty, leaving only the others usable.

DoubleTree by Hilton Fiji - Sonaisali Island

We had a very pleasant stay at the DoubleTree by Hilton Fiji - Sonaisali Island. The biggest highlight of this hotel is definitely the staff — everyone was genuinely friendly, welcoming, and always trying to help with a smile. You can tell the team really cares about the guests, and that makes a huge difference. The hotel itself is quite remote and isolated, which can be either a positive or a negative depending on what you are looking for. There is no real private beach for swimming, so don’t expect a classic white-sand Fiji beach resort experience. However, the location is absolutely perfect for sunsets. The evening atmosphere is beautiful, calm, and very relaxing. The breakfast is not really at a 5-star level in terms of variety or quality, but it is still more than sufficient and you will definitely find enough options to start the day well. One thing that really feels outdated though: charging extra for Wi-Fi in the rooms in 2026 is honestly absurd. Hilton, seriously — what decade are we living in? Free room Wi-Fi should be standard at this level nowadays.

The environment is great and the facilities are decent. However, the breakfast really falls short of Asian guests' expectations; it's quite a downgrade compared to hotels in Asia.

My flight reached late at night. I checked in after 10pm. No one was there to guide or help with the luggage. Had difficulties looking for my room. Was told by an employee that my room was upstairs so had to go up the stairs with my 20kg back, 7 kg carry on and my handbag, only to be told by a guest that it was downstairs. I was frustrated and exhausted from my long flight from Australia. The guest took me downstairs to my room. Thank God for his help. The hotel was nice, except for their services, other things were good.

We stayed for a 2-night family trip. The interior of the resort is like a maze, and due to its large size, if your room isn't conveniently located, expect a considerable walk. Upon arrival, a staff member warmly greeted us with a 'Bula' song. All the staff were friendly. Although the ocean wasn't the emerald green I had hoped for, I saw people fishing and families swimming early in the morning. Breakfast and dinner were just average. The kids' program might be a bit childish for our 12 and 7-year-olds, but it would be great for younger children. We were lucky enough to catch a fire show, which was a nice bonus. The pool water was cold. The room condition was clean and perfectly adequate for a family. Some rooms have washing machines, but there's also a coin laundry, which was convenient for washing and drying swimsuits and clothes. I recommend it for a family trip.

A very VERY strange experience here I must say.. I arrived at the 28 bed dorm room (even though trip.com said it was 10 bed) and there was no sign of any other life in the dorm at all. Most of the beds looked like they had been made months ago and nobody had slept in them since because they were covered in a layer of dust and dirt.. I went back to reception to ask what was going on and they said I’m the only one booked in so I just accepted it as it was. However, later on when I was sitting the bar a member of staff approached me and told me I had been upgraded (because supposedly the dorms weren’t clean due to a big group having checked out yesterday) so I ended up spending two nights in a luxurious Bure, the first night shared with someone else who was booked in for the dorms. The Bure was beautiful and spotless and I am very grateful for the upgrade. The outside shower was also very nice! The breakfast was excellent with lots to choose from! Eggs, sausages, beans, bread, cakes, yogurts, fruit, multiple cereals, tea, coffee and juice, one morning there were pancakes. The only downsides to this resort is they don’t have any activities or excursions of their own and they direct you to the hotel further along - I did snorkelling there which costs $75 - the whole thing felt rushed in my opinion and the trip wasn’t worth the money. We got barely any time in the water and there was no time to stop and observe anything, seemed like the guys on the boat just wanted to get it all over and done with as fast as possible.

Check in was after 3pm, check out 10:30 , and you have to get the towel from the reception. Too many rules  plastered in the room as if you are going to rob them. A deposit of FJD50 in cash is required (no drinks in the room whatsoever, just instant coffee). I asked if I can check out before 12nn but was allowed only up to 11am. When I went back to get my luggage, the lady told me that I was supposed to have checked out already, without even asking if I already did. Only the cleaning staff were helpful. Would not recommend.

I gave 3 star for the location is because it is hard to get to anywhere, the public transport in Nadi is not very easy for tourists. We stayed 5 nights in the Warwick, breakfast buffet is ok, nothing stands out. the water is beautiful but we had strong tide so half of the time it was closed, when it is not, they hotel only has very limited snorkelling gears for guests to use it was quite disappointing. There is no restaurants within walking distance, so the hotel food is our only choice, we had dinner in the Italian and Japanese restaurant both are disappointment. I ordered a Caesar salad with only lettuce and croutons but got charged $30. The only thing that is good is the staff are friendly.

This seaside cottage was very comfortable. The bus stop right in front was very convenient. If you're relying on the bus, allow plenty of time. We couldn't get on an express bus as they were all full, and three passed us by. After a two-and-a-half-hour wait, we finally got on a local bus to Singatoka, and from there, we took an express bus to Nadi. It's a great spot; you can snorkel during high tide and enjoy exploring the tidal pools during low tide.
