"This hotel's facilities and ambiance couldn't possibly be bad, given the price point. Let's talk about the less satisfactory aspects. We weren't allowed to even wait in the hotel lobby before check-in time. I totally understand not being able to access the room before then, but not being able to enter the lobby was a bit puzzling. Although the staff did make an exception for us to use the restroom in the lobby, it was still quite awkward because my friend took a bit longer in the restroom, and a staff member came to tell us we couldn't linger there. Also, both breakfast and dinner were Kaiseki meals. While exquisitely presented, it just wasn't to our taste. However, the hotel's hot spring and surroundings are truly excellent, and the rooms are very new. The self-service drinks in the hotel lobby were delicious, especially the blueberry juice – that really left an impression."

The Toyako Manseikaku Hotel Lakeside Terrace is an ideal spot for travelers wanting to discover the city. The Toyako Manseikaku Hotel Lakeside Terrace offers a pleasant stay in Toyako for those traveling for business or leisure. The hotel is only 7km from Tōya Station and 74km from New Chitose Airport, giving guests a number of convenient transportation options. There's plenty to do nearby, with Toyako Onsen 100th Anniversary Monument, Lake Toya Onsen Illumination Tunnel and Lake Toya sculpture park all within a short distance. In their spare time, guests can explore the hotel's surroundings. For those driving themselves, parking is provided on site. According to our guests, the location of this hotel is one of the best around. This hotel is particularly popular with those traveling with families.

"Overall a Great Stay, Though Service Left Room for Improvement. We recently completed a 3-day, 2-night stay at this hotel, booking a package that included both breakfast and dinner—which I highly recommend. While many local guests opt for day trips or single-night stays, staying two nights allowed us to fully enjoy the experience. Property & Amenities: The property is a traditional, slightly dated onsen hotel in terms of room amenities, but the public areas are well-maintained and clean. The location is also extremely convenient. Service Experience: Most of the staff—including the male receptionists, buffet team, and bar staff—were wonderfully welcoming and friendly. Unfortunately, our interaction with one front desk staff member, Ms. Morikawa, was disappointing. Although she understands English, her attitude towards us was noticeably cold and distant. Having traveled extensively throughout Japan and internationally, the contrast in hospitality was clear, particularly when we observed her interacting warmly with Japanese guests right after being dismissive with us. We felt compelled to bring this matter to the attention of the Front Desk Manager. While we rarely feel the need to raise service concerns in Japan, we felt it was important to share our experience regarding being treated differently as foreign guests. Aside from this incident, we enjoyed our time and appreciated the efforts of the rest of the team."

"Stayed here for 4 days and 3 nights. The location is excellent, right between Tanukikoji 1 and 2. There’s a FamilyMart downstairs, while McDonald’s, a bookstore, and drugstores are just across the street, making everything very convenient. The hotel lounge offers free coffee and tea, which was a nice touch. I would skip the breakfast. The selection was limited, and some of the fish didn’t taste very fresh and was quite dry, so it wasn’t worth paying extra for."

This hotel is a popular accommodation for guests traveling with families.

"I visited Hakodate during Golden Week, and it was my first time traveling here by Shinkansen from Sendai, via Aomori. That's why I chose a hotel right next to the JR station. Its convenience in terms of transportation is simply unbeatable. Hakodate Morning Market is just across the street from the hotel, making dining and shopping incredibly easy. Since there were many guests checking in, both the check-in process and waiting for the elevators took quite a bit of time. The room amenities were complete and comfortable. The only downside was that the room rate during Golden Week was 3-4 times higher than usual, which was definitely not cheap."

For our last night in Hokkaido, we drove all the way from Kushiro to this small hotel in Biei. The hotel was tiny, and although it had a second floor, there was no elevator. The staff were incredibly enthusiastic and even helped us carry our luggage, which made us feel a bit embarrassed. Our room came with a private open-air onsen, so it was quite spacious, but the futon mattress was a little hard. It made me miss my smart electric mattress back home! The food here was also great; both breakfast and dinner were typical Japanese cuisine, perfectly to my liking. Definitely recommended!

This was the most magical onsen I’ve ever been to. Pretty remote and difficult to get to if relying on public transport/taxis, however once you get there it’s so warm, inviting, and luxurious. The onsen baths are a mix of separate genders (mostly inside) baths, but also a spectacular outside onsen for mixed genders; the staff at reception will give you a covering garment for this. The dinner and breakfasts were truly delicious and filling but we enjoyed dining in the provided yukatas. The real draw of this place however is the birdwatching opportunities. The main lobby boasts a huge window to a bird garden which is teeming with various species. There is an owl that often visits and perches right outside the window. The staff can also call your room during the night if it appears and you’re desperate to see it!

I had a great time. I booked a room on the top floor. Business hotels are cramped, so I stayed overnight with a friend. There was a sauna, karaoke, and a large TV. It was also well soundproofed, so I could drink and make a lot of noise. I had a great time.
