Anonymous UserThe room was spacious, but unfortunately, our assigned room was slightly off-center from the sea view. The public areas, however, were absolutely beautiful and uncrowded, making for a very relaxing experience. The cliffside hotel offered breathtaking views from its elevated position, especially the sea views at sunset and under the daytime sun – a stunning expanse of blue sky and ocean. One spot even reminded me of Jiuzhaigou! The pool area was surrounded by various hydrangeas, which was lovely. The nearby Kotoda Coast was also gorgeous, even more so than Tsumekizaki. The teppanyaki beef at Xiaoting was tender and delicious, the set meal was generous, and it even came with ice cream. Definitely worth a return visit.

The hotel was very clean, and the food was absolutely delicious. The hot springs were also wonderful, probably because it was a weekday and not crowded. I highly recommend getting the dinner plan. For breakfast, we were able to have it in our room, which allowed for a very relaxed start to the day.
As other reviewers mentioned, the坂道 (steep hill) up to the hotel was quite something. We went by car, and at one point, we encountered another car coming down in a curving tunnel. Since uphill traffic has priority, the other car had to back up the hill to let us pass. After arriving, we enjoyed walking to the shopping street in front of the station, but on the way back to the hotel, we took a taxi from the station. Even the taxi driver radioed ahead to another taxi waiting at the top of the hill to hold their position before starting the ascent. It would be great if there were traffic lights at the top and bottom. There aren't many cars coming and going, so we just hoped there wouldn't be any oncoming traffic on our way back.

Zomo⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Wonderful Stay with an Incredible Mount Fuji View
I had a wonderful stay at Hotel Clad Gotemba and really enjoyed the overall experience. The hotel was very well equipped, comfortable, and had everything I needed for a relaxing stay.
One of the highlights was definitely the dinner and breakfast buffet. There was a great variety of food to choose from, and it was nice to have so many different options available for both meals.
But the absolute highlight has to be the open-air onsen with the Mount Fuji view — it is simply insane! 🗻♨️ Soaking in the hot spring while looking out at Mount Fuji was such an amazing and memorable experience.
A couple of small suggestions that could make the stay even better:
* Pillows: The pillows were a little too soft for my preference. It would be great if guests could choose from different pillow types or have a firmer option available.
* Onsen hours: It would be fantastic if the onsen could stay open later, especially for hotel guests. Since there isn’t a huge amount to do around Gotemba at night, having the opportunity to enjoy a late-night soak would be a wonderful perk. Perhaps the later hours could even be reserved exclusively for hotel guests after the public bathing hours end.
Overall, I really enjoyed my stay and would definitely recommend Hotel Clad Gotemba, especially for anyone looking for a relaxing getaway with an amazing Mount Fuji view and a fantastic onsen experience. I would happily stay here again!

YishuangxiuhuaxieThis hotel is located on a cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean in Atami, and it's quite spacious inside. The rooms are clean, tidy, and hygienic. Both the breakfast and dinner buffets were excellent. Plus, there's a hot spring bath to enjoy. It's a peaceful and serene escape from the city's hustle and bustle, offering mountains, water, great food, drinks, and hot springs. I'm already planning to return to Atami New Akasaka next time!

erinsisiMy stay at Izu Shuzenji Marriott exceeded all expectations! Japanese hotels are generally quite compact, but this one was exceptionally spacious. Both twin beds were 1.5 meters wide, and there was a sofa, providing ample space to move around. The room even came with a private onsen bath, which was incredibly healing. Perched on a mountaintop, the hotel offered expansive views, though it was cloudy during my visit, so I missed seeing Mount Fuji. The restaurant's window seats had an amazing ambiance. Both the food and the environment were excellent, and the service was attentive. This is definitely my top choice for a hot spring getaway in Izu. Highly recommended!

Posted on May 12, 2026|South Building Japanese-Western Room
Guest UserThis hotel is fantastic and fully equipped, truly a resort hotel, and many Japanese guests stay here! First, the hotel will send you an email in advance to confirm your dinner time. We booked dinner for two nights; it was a set menu, and the menu changed daily! The rooms are spacious, and there are many yukata choices! There are two hot springs ♨️, one in the main building and one in the south building. Currently, there are no private baths. We tried both. The main building's is smaller but fully equipped and less crowded. The south building isn't too far to walk to, just a few stairs! Both sides have restaurants. We stayed in the main building and dined there. Breakfast was indeed a bit of a hassle; you usually have to wait. You can go down early to make a reservation, and they'll call your room when it's ready!
If you have time, you definitely need to try the hotel's facilities. It has three stops, including a free spa and an indoor water park. We went to the spa, and swimsuits were provided, which was very convenient! The internal shuttle runs until 11 PM, so you can go in the evening too! Be aware that the shuttle to the Kogen Station is the same as the internal shuttle, so make sure to ask when you get on! Both the hotel's dinner and breakfast are high-quality, and breakfast even includes sashimi rice! Plus, the hotel's souvenir shop is cheaper than the one at JR Station! I recommend having dinner at the hotel, as there's absolutely nothing around, no shops! But the hotel itself is so exciting, it's worth it even if you just stay and enjoy the hotel!

TerrychaIzu Kogen Country Hotel | Exceeded expectations in every way, highly recommend! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I was extremely satisfied with my stay this time, full marks!
🍣 Dinner Buffet & Breakfast
• The dinner featured a sashimi bar with incredibly fresh ingredients, refilled endlessly. The hot food and BBQ were also excellent.
• Breakfast was equally diverse, offering both Japanese and Western options, all delicious. I was very satisfied with the meals on both days.
♨️ Public Bath
• The hot spring bath area is very spacious, with both indoor and outdoor baths, making for a very relaxing soak.
• A nice touch: The hair dryers are Refa! They have strong airflow and don't damage hair, which women will love.
🏨 Room
• I stayed alone in a large suite-style room. It was spacious with a separate living area, and excellent natural light, far exceeding the average Japanese standard.
🛎 Service & Facilities
• The front desk staff were friendly and efficient, and free coffee is available in the lobby.
• There's a large swimming pool and an on-demand massage/SPA area.
• They are also very pet-friendly, creating a warm atmosphere.

Beautiful onsen — our favorite stay in Japan with my family! The traditional breakfast was delicious with a very large selection of dishes. The rooms are gorgeous, quiet, and spacious — and everything was exceptionally clean. The cleaning crew truly does an amazing job.
The reception staff were very friendly and helpful, making us feel warmly welcomed. The location is excellent, just a short walk from the train station, and having a washer and dryer available for guests was a big plus.
Highly recommended — we would love to stay here again!

qinqin09Stepping into the hotel was such a pleasant surprise! It felt like entering a Southeast Asian resort. Facing the endless ocean, my mood immediately relaxed. The service was also excellent; staff escorted us to our room and meticulously explained how everything worked. For dinner, since my daughter doesn't eat seafood and there wasn't an à la carte menu, the hotel specially prepared Udon noodles and Western dishes for her – we were so grateful! In the evening, lying quietly by the pool, gazing at the stars and moon with my favorite music playing in my headphones – this is what life is all about! I'd love to come back and stay a few more nights if I get the chance.

Guest UserI would hesitate booking this hotel if you are looking for a “wow” experience. We had some issues due to bad weather and some due to service.
We booked a room that ideally should have had views of Mount Fuji. Due to the fog, we saw nothing for our 1 night stay outside of the clouds. This is no fault of the hotel but worth factoring into expectations.
We also had some service shortfalls. No one in advance communicated that we needed to select a time for the included dinner or pick the cuisine we wanted. As a result, we got stuck with what was available. We also were not informed that there was a shuttle to a nearby train station (the hotel made up for this by driving us to the station, but the only reason we knew was another guest mentioned it). Lastly, we selected a meal option but were not told the supplement in advance so had a 24,000 yen surprise on our bill. Had this all been communicated in advance, we would have felt better about our stay. At breakfast, we waited over 20 minutes for coffee and had to ask 3 times before it was eventually served.
On the plus side, the hard product is strong and our Kappo dinner was delicious.
While this wasn’t a “bad stay” - I struggle to see how this hotel landed as a 3 Michelin Star rating and can charge the prices that are charged given some of the issues we faced.
