Ulungu Lake National Wetland Park

Ulungur Lake is the tail lake of Ulungur River, which can be divided into two parts: Dahaizi (Buluntohai) and Xiaohaizi (Jili Lake). Dahaizi is about 48.1 kilometers long, 25.3 kilometers wide, and covers an area of 736 square kilometers. It is a saltwater lake; Xiaohaizi covers an area of 160 square kilometers, is about 16.8 kilometers long, and 6.3 kilometers wide. It is a freshwater lake.

The southeastern shore of Dahaizi is a beach made of fine and soft white quartz sand, without silt, with a gentle slope at the bottom of the lake and clear water. The lake shore is mostly surrounded by fixed and semi-fixed sand dunes; the western shore is covered with reeds and swamps, and the lakeside is a lake plain; the northern shore has a silver beach about 10 kilometers long, suitable for water entertainment activities such as swimming, Surfing, skateboarding, and boating. There are well-equipped seaside bathing beaches and recreational facilities by the lake. Dahaizi has charming scenery, and sunset glow, fishermen's songs, lake light and sky, cloud shadows, and sunset birds are common beautiful sights.

Xiaohaizi is located in the south of Dahaizi. The scenery you see when you go boating on the lake is comparable to the "800-li Dongting Lake": calamus and reeds grow densely on the east coast and both sides of the estuary; the bird island in the lake is a "bird paradise" with seagulls spreading their wings, white swans and spotted cranes, and flocks of wild ducks in summer and autumn. Bird nests and eggs are everywhere on the island. Wherever people go, birds fly away in surprise, and the lake is full of vitality.

Ulungur Lake is also rich in more than 10 kinds of fish, including carp, crucian carp, pine perch, red perch, and white pike. After sightseeing, you can enjoy a whole fish feast with excellent color, fragrance, and taste. Among them, fish stewed with asafoetida mushrooms is a famous product of Altay, which is extremely delicious.
