I had a very satisfying stay. Originally, my plan was to stay near Ginza for convenient shopping, but for the same budget, hotels in Ginza were half the size. Also, I heard that Shin Takanawa was going to be demolished by the end of this year, so I decided I definitely wanted to experience a stay here.
1️⃣ First, the lobby is very grand and has an 'old money' vibe, a style I really appreciate. You can check in and check out using self-service machines, which also have a Chinese language option, making it very convenient.
2️⃣ I was initially quite worried about the room, fearing it might be unhygienic or too old, as some reviews had mentioned. However, we stayed on the 10th floor, and overall, it was very good. The daily cleaning was also quite thorough. The balcony was beautiful, and the bathroom amenities included thoughtful details like a body scrub towel, ear picks, cotton swabs, and shaving cream. From our balcony, we could see Shinagawa Station.
3️⃣ In terms of getting around, it was alright. Shinagawa Station isn't far, though there's an uphill slope. But even as a 24-week pregnant woman, I managed to walk up it, so it's acceptable. In the other direction, there's also Takanawa Subway Station, which doesn't require going uphill, but I felt Shinagawa Station offered more convenient access to various places.
4️⃣ All the hotel staff were very friendly. Communication with the lady at the front desk and the gentleman at the luggage storage was seamless in English, and their attitudes were excellent. There's a 7-Eleven on the basement level, which was very convenient for buying snacks. The door next to the 7-Eleven allows you to exit the hotel, and that exit conveniently faces the坂道 (sloped path) leading up from Shinagawa Station, which was great.
I'm giving this stay a full five stars. It's a shame it will be demolished later, otherwise, I would definitely choose to stay here again on my next trip to Tokyo.
