Jinji Lake

Jinji Lake is located in Suzhou Industrial Park, showcasing a modern skyline of high-rise buildings that contrasts with the ancient charm of Suzhou's old town. Slightly larger than Hangzhou's West Lake, it attracts many travelers daily for lakeside leisure walks, shopping, and dining, as well as couples taking wedding photos. The attraction has four entrances to this open park, accessible from any side. Most travelers enter through the west entrance, near a subway station offering views of Suzhou's new landmark, the Gate of the Orient skyscraper, colloquially known as "Big Pants." Bike rentals are available near the subway exit for those wanting to ride around the lake. The west entrance leads to Lakeside New Heaven and Earth, the starting point of Lakeside Avenue, featuring a pleasant wooden waterfront promenade and lifelike bronze statues. On sunny days, many jog or ride bikes here, while the lakeside grass is perfect for picnics, barbecues, or kite-flying. You can also see the "Harmony" sculpture by the lake. With enough time, consider taking a boat from Wanghu Pavilion Pier to Peach Blossom Island at the lake's center, especially stunning during the blooming season. After exploring the west entrance, walk or take a water bus to Ligongdi Pier. Ligongdi, the only causeway on Jinji Lake, preserves traditional Suzhou architecture and hosts an international waterfront shopping street blending global brands and local shops. Alternatively, ride the free (holiday surcharges may apply) sightseeing train to attractions like the Fund Museum, extreme sports area, Mid-Lake Pavilion, Lingyun Bridge, and Li Chaoqiong Poetry Monument. Couples or families can take a water bus directly from Wanghu Pavilion Pier to Moon Harbor or enter via the north entrance, where the modern leisure plaza features the Suzhou Culture and Arts Center (dubbed "Suzhou Bird's Nest"), linking the Red Maple Forest view and Suzhou International Expo Center, housing theaters, cinemas, and performance halls. Capture photos or watch a 3D movie here. Thrill-seekers can ride the Ferris wheel for panoramic lake views. Jinji Lake's nightscape is equally captivating. Take an evening cruise (about 40-minute duration) from Moon Harbor or Wanghu Pavilion Pier, passing daytime attractions. The lake's illuminated bridges are a highlight, with digital waterfalls displaying colorful patterns and text. Don't miss Harmony Sky Screen, spanning 500 meters long, 32 meters wide, and 21 meters high—outstripping Las Vegas' canopy—where giant lotus leaves and colorful fish animations dazzle overhead nightly.
