Located in Yibin, southern Sichuan, the Southen Sichuan Bamboo Sea is a continuous expanse of emerald bamboo covering more than twenty steep ridges and over five hundred peaks. It has long been known as a "sea of bamboo" and, together with the dinosaurs, the stone forest, and the hanging coffins, is acclaimed as one of the "four wonders of southern Sichuan." More than fifty species of bamboo grow in the forest, including not only the common moso bamboo, water bamboo, and ci bamboo, but also rare species such as purple bamboo, human-face bamboo, and mandarin-duck bamboo. The bamboo forest scenes in the film Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon were shot here.
Most travelers enter the attraction through the west gate. Along the route, they first pass the Southern Sichuan Bamboo Sea Museum, where bamboo carvings, bamboo weaving, and other handicrafts are finely made and worth stopping to look at closely; then they take the sightseeing cableway, which slowly climbs from the valley floor, with bamboo waves surging below their feet. The upper cableway station is located in the area of the Sea-Viewing Tower and the Emerald Corridor. Climbing the Sea-Viewing Tower and leaning on the railing to gaze into the distance, countless emerald ridges come into full view; not far away, the Emerald Corridor features a red sandstone path several hundred meters long nestled among dense bamboo shade, with sunlight filtering through the gaps in the bamboo leaves — a classic photo spot in the attraction.
There are several farmhouse restaurants near Guanhai Tower where you can take a rest. Their signature "All-Bamboo Banquet" features dishes made with bamboo shoots, bamboo fungus, and other bamboo ingredients. The flavors are fresh and light, making it a perfect place to sit down and savor slowly after a tiring walk.

Show More ReviewsHow can you come to Yibin and not visit the Shunan Bamboo Sea! Staying in the bamboo forest, the morning mist fills the mountains and forests. Strolling through the lush green bamboo forest, listening to the birds singing, is so relaxing. We stayed here for two nights, taking our time to explore; it was truly picturesque.
