Beppu Kannawa Onsen Oniyama Hotel

This hotel boasts a great location, perfect for enjoying the scenic steam rising from Yumetake. However, the view of Kannawa was a bit disappointing due to ongoing construction in front. Among all the ryokans I've stayed at in the Kannawa area, this one had the largest open-air bath – it was absolutely wonderful! Dinner was neat and tidy. I distinctly remember selecting a room with a bathtub when booking, but the room I was assigned didn't have one. I knew that rooms with and without bathtubs had different prices, so it left a rather unsettling, even upsetting, feeling. Despite that, the hotel's location is fantastic for exploring the Hells of Beppu!

The hotel has been renovated, and the outdoor hot spring is quite large, fed directly by natural spring water. However, compared to other hot spring hotels in the same price range, there's no welcome drink or all-you-can-drink option, and only iced water is provided after the hot spring bath.

Close to Beppu attractions, right near the hotel, very convenient.

The room is great and clean, it's just been renovated!

The hotel is much better in person than in the photos on Ctrip; it's arguably the best value hotel in the area. First, the room facilities are very new, clearly recently renovated, newer than most hotels in the area. Second, the location is excellent, right in the heart of the town's tourist attractions and transportation hub, offering a quiet retreat amidst the hustle and bustle. The food is also excellent; I stayed for three days, and the food improved each day. On the third night, they served lobster for dinner, and the guests who were only staying one night were whispering among themselves, assuming we had paid extra for a more expensive meal.

My daughter and I stayed here together. The room was spacious and very comfortable. The breakfast buffet was also delicious.

Wow, it was really bad for the price.. It was over 700,000 won per night.. and during my 2 night stay, I couldn't eat the kaiseki meal because it was full.. When I asked if I had to pay for breakfast since my child was 5 years old, they told me several times that it was the same as an adult. I couldn't believe it, so I asked again, and they said, oh, then I don't have to pay.. Other than the location, it was a hotel with really bad value for money! I have no intention of coming back!
