The self-branded 5-star is only applicable to the beach front location and the free pick-up/drop-off service from the airport. Nothing else qualifies them as a 5-star. Upon checking in to a Classic Ocean View Twin Room on Nov 5, we found a piece of a long dark hair on the toilet seat. When I called the front desk, they sent in a cleaning crew to take care of that but with no intentions to do anything beyond that. To them it might be a daily occurrence of such a complaint, but to me it was an upsetting situation to find someone's hair on the toilet seat upon my check-in. When I requested to change to another room, the front-desk said they were fully booked and the first available room was on Dec 9. It was such a convenient brush off - the front desk would have looked at my itinerary and knew that Nov 9 was my check out date. When I questioned of all the 240+ rooms they have, none was available for our 4-day stay, she said there was one on the 4th floor, but I had to pay extra. I was so appalled at their "I don't care, take it or leave it" attitude. It was not until I told her I would share my negative experience with Trip.com did she offer a similar room instantly.
The breakfast buffet experience was not much better. The hot deli became cold fast because the stainless steel containers have no heating elements. If you get the food shortly after they were served then you would not have any problems. The cappuccino I ordered from the bar on the first day tasted as if either the milk or the coffee beans had turned bad. I had no motivations to order any custom drinks from the bar after that. On the second morning, the hot milk beside the hot coffee became curdled. When I alerted the serving staff about that, they were apologetic and immediately actioned on that. I give them credits for taking ownership of their mistakes.
The variety and quality of the breakfast buffet suggested this place runs on a low-budget. The menu and the quality of food was no where near to that at a true 5-star hotel we stayed at in Danang. They did not have enough servers when the place became busy. The irony is that we paid a lot more to stay at his hotel compared to the hotel in Danang.
The room size is decent. But if you have long hair, good luck with using the puny hair dryer that has pitiful power. I usually need only 30 seconds to dry my short hair at home, but it took 2-3 minutes using their hair dryer. There are no place to hang hand towels at the vanity. You either hang it on the outside railing of the toilet door or the shower door. I personally like unopened individually wrapped hand soap in a hotel because I know no one else has used it. They use a soap dispenser. To me, it is another cost cutting operation.
They are not 5-star. I would give them 3.5-star at the most.
