The Xiying Fenglei era film and television base is a brand-new period film and television shooting base, originally the site of the Fenglei Instrument Factory. The Fenglei Instrument Factory traces its roots to the "608" classified workshop of Shanghai Watch Factory in 1960. In 1966, responding to the national call for Third Front construction, the entire "608" workshop relocated to Xi'an, and the Fenglei Instrument Factory was officially completed and put into operation in 1967. The factory's military code name was 618, and the name "Fenglei" was derived from the leader's poetic line "The four seas are seething, clouds and waters raging; The five continents are rocking, wind and thunder roaring." After the 1970s, adopting the principle of "military leading civilian, civilian supporting military," the factory gradually shifted from military production to civilian use. Its Panda brand watches once enjoyed immense popularity, alongside Golden Monkey cigarettes and Xifeng liquor, collectively known as the "Three Treasures of Shaanxi," becoming a generational symbol of memory and pride. In 2006, the Fenglei Instrument Factory completed its historical mission and exited the stage of history, but its architectural features have been fully preserved.
In November 2024, Xiying Group and Xi'an Industrial Investment Group jointly built the Xiying Fenglei Era Film and Television Base, adopting a "restore to original" update strategy to preserve the factory's original texture and features, revitalizing old workshops and transforming the former factory area into a natural period drama set. It has become the filming location for period dramas like The Lead, with over 60% of the show's main scenes constructed and shot here.
The Xiying Fenglei Era Film and Television Base aims to create a dual-operation model of "film production + cultural tourism experience," building an industrial ecosystem of "film IP-driven traffic → offline immersive experiences → secondary cultural tourism consumption." By integrating cinematic storytelling, it allows visitors to experience vivid, visible, tangible, and interactive cultural tourism scenarios.

Show More ReviewsWe arrived on National Day (October 1st). The elderly person forgot their bag at the scenic spot, and by the time they remembered, they were already back in Xi'an city. On a whim, we called the scenic area, and the staff member who answered was incredibly responsible, quickly responding that someone had found it and arranged for it to be mailed back. The service was truly top-notch. As for the scenic area itself, it's all about nostalgia. During the National Day holiday, there were many fun games where you could win prizes, movie tickets, and small gifts. We even participated in a snack-stealing contest and won second prize. The child received a small gift for reciting a poem. The restrooms at the scenic area were also very clean. There were also several cute kittens in the area. We bought coffee at the cafe in the scenic area; the price was reasonable and the taste was good.
