This is a wonderful hotel for immersing yourself in Japanese traditions. It's decorated very authentically and beautifully. The rooms have beds, air conditioning, and tea-making facilities. The toilet is shared, but there aren't many guests, so it's always available. The entire property and the restrooms are very clean. Upon reservation, you can use the baths (like an onsen, but in wooden tubs), one larger and one smaller. It's a unique experience. The breakfast is fantastic and varied. And of course, the staff are incredibly friendly. Thank you to the hotel for your hospitality!

This was our second stay at Toshiharu Ryokan. Absolutely incredible location and service! Yoshiko is an absolute gem and we really enjoyed talking with her during our check in. The breakfast is also fantastic— some of the best we have ever had! Thank you for a wonderful stay!

It was a fantastic cultural experience. We felt like guests being invited into someone's home rather than a regular hotel guest. We stayed in the room with the garden which definitely seemed to be the correct choice, the beds were very comfortable and the traditional Japanese breakfast was excellent! Definitely would reckon this experience!

Such an amazing experience in Kyoto! If you’re looking for a traditional Japanese experience you must stay in a Ryokan! The staff were PERFECT. I can’t think of any hotel staff who have ever been so nice and helpful. Something to note: There’s a curfew at 11 or 12 I think, this is not the kind of place to plan on going out. Think of staying at your grandmas house, her rules.

This is a very Japanese-style hotel, with the entire building over a century old. If you want to experience the Japanese tatami style, you must stay a night there. The staff were very friendly and could communicate in English. The breakfast was also very Japanese and delicious. The only thing to note is that the hotel has a shared bathhouse, which can be inconvenient. You should contact the hotel staff in advance regarding bathing times.

The price-performance ratio is very poor. The facilities are very old. The bathroom and toilet are shared. It's like a Japanese version of a farmhouse. The comfort is terrible. The price of more than 3,000 is incredible. I laughed speechlessly for a long time after moving in. Maybe it was all spent on the tax of the old house. The target group should also be white people who have never experienced Japanese architecture. Those who want to experience traditional Japanese inns and don't care about the price can try it. In general, the experience is very bad. I'm sorry for the price. It's not even worth considering for about 1,000.

Only when you see it with your own eyes can you know how exquisite it is. Every corner is full of history and carefully maintained beauty. It is worth coming here to experience it.

Fantastic stay in a traditional Japanese ryokan. If you want to have the experience, choose this hotel. The rooms are a dream, the courtyard garden is simply wonderful. There is also a small corner for smokers on the premises, so no wandering around. The whole hotel, including the private bathroom, which you get half an hour per person per day, was impressive. But the staff is also amazing, super friendly, super accommodating, all in all an incredible service. All the pictures online here cannot even begin to reflect the magic that surrounds this place. I had the Japanese deluxe room with a garden view and can recommend it to anyone who wants to feel old Japan, or is simply an anime & manga fan and wants to live like the protagonists from our favorite series.
