The facility is famous for the protection and breeding of endangered wild animals that are unique to China. It simulates the natural habitat of the giant pandas, where there are lakes, lakes, streams, bamboo forests and lawns. The chance to come into close contact with the giant pandas is a highlight here. Visitors can have a close-up observation of the pandas' living conditions. There is also a "Panda Villa", which is a preserved area for the pandas to rest.

Show More ReviewsThe base is located in the suburbs of Chengdu. It's not a zoo but a large research center with spacious enclosures. I visited in August. Arrived at 9 AM – and saw only sleeping pandas. In hot weather, they are active only early morning, so my main advice: come right at opening time (7:30 AM). That’s when you can catch feeding time and play. Ideally, visit during cooler seasons – spring or autumn. The area is huge, walking between enclosures is tiring. I strongly recommend buying a ticket for the internal shuttle bus – it saves time and energy. Without it, orientation is tricky; I got lost myself. There are cafes and fast-food spots inside, but queues are long.Overall, a wonderful place – but only if you're ready to wake up early. Arrive at opening, and you won't regret it.
