Daci'en Temple

Da Ci'en Temple is located at the southern end of Yanta Road in the southern suburbs of Xi'an City, Shaanxi Province. It is a symbolic building of Chang'an in the Tang Dynasty. Da Ci'en Temple was first built in the Sui Dynasty and was originally named "Wulou Temple". In the 22nd year of Tang Zhenguan (AD 648), Prince Li Zhi expanded the temple in memory of his biological mother, Empress Wende, and renamed it "Da Ci'en Temple". The Big Wild Goose Pagoda was first built in the third year of Yonghui in the Tang Dynasty (AD 652). The Big Wild Goose Pagoda was a building in the Tang Dynasty. It had five floors when it was first built. The tower base is a square brick platform. There are brick arches on all sides of each floor, and there are wooden stairs leading to the top floor in the tower. Now it is a 7-story brick pagoda in the style of imitation wood pavilion built in the Ming Dynasty. The body of the tower is an empty brick tube with a height of 64 meters. The momentum is magnificent, and it is clear at a glance. A large number of scriptures and translated Buddhist scriptures brought back by Master Xuanzang were preserved here. On March 4, 1961, the Big Wild Goose Pagoda was announced by the State Council as the first batch of national key cultural relics protection units. It was included in the "World Heritage List" by UNESCO in 2014.
