Bernice was an amazing tour guide! She gave us great historical and cultural context for all of the sites. We felt like “explorers” rather than tourists. She even taught us a couple of words in Twi. Michael, our driver, also took good care of us.
Most notably, we also really benefitted from her help and wisdom in the Makola market. Really glad we do not have to navigate that on our own — it would have been overwhelming. Great photo opportunity from a “Birds Eye” view, also helped us prepare for the chaos down below.
I will be returning home, now wanting to read more about W.E.B. DuBois, and especially Kwame Nkrumah.
