Fun addition to our Asheville cultural dip.
Saw Flying West. This really is a community theater. Two folks had to pitch in for cast members who were ill. No matter. Everyone was very good. The end of the play is a little hokey but the play highlights an aspect of post Civil War history in a way that is instructive and not heavy handed.

Unannounced Transgender Kiss in Children's Play Elf Jr
Parents should have been told Buddy is cast as a woman in Elf Jr., and that the play includes her kissing another woman on stage, and pursuing her throughout the play. I took my young children to Elf Jr, on a special trip with hundreds of other high school children. The original script calls for a male actor, and this significant change was not announced in the ad.

Such a great local theatre - it really doesn't seem like there's a bad seat in the house. We went to see Elf to help us get into the Christmas spirit - it was just wonderful. The performances were enjoyable and the sets were outstanding - I can't imagine how much effort goes into the production! We were all singing when we left :)
