No matter your religion, The Grotto is a great visit. Beyond peaceful and quiet it’s a great escape from the city. When my mom visited me in Portland she said this was her favorite place we visited together. That’s saying a lot considering we also went to Cannon Beach. Make sure to walk the whole grounds. There are a lot of unique areas and even a walking maze.

I was able to stay here all day and in fact I did. This is a must-see place for me when I came to Portland. The tranquility of the road to different cultural areas and the meditation room with floor-to-ceiling glass windows are amazing. You can really do a good meditation here. The place is peaceful and beautiful, reminding me of Europe. It's just energetic.
You need to pay for entering the park, and you can reach the garden by elevator. There are trails through the grass and bushes in the park, and there are no other flower-themed gardens except for the small rose garden. The religious statues on the roadside are beautiful. The glass of the church in the garden offers a 180-degree view of the city, where four simple chairs can be rested or prayed.
It was an amazing experience to walk meditatively on the Garden grotto. Every step is a miracle!
From the travel agency's route introduction, I learned about Portland, a unique church, located in Portland's east near the airport, but 8 miles from the city by car, few tourists and quiet environment, parking spaces are sufficient. Known as The Grotto, this open-air cathedral is not just a church, but a natural and fresh park with green hills and greenery, and the whole park is full of Catholic elements. The church is free to visit, and tickets can be purchased by taking the elevator up the hill, with a panoramic view of the mountain and downtown Portland.
It’s a gift from nature, it’s great. It’s become a place of love, peace, hope and faith, reminding us that our lives will be better when God is at the center of our lives. The view from the meditation area was breathtaking, the way to the cross was great, and if I come back next time I will definitely remember to wear a pair of suitable shoes, such as sneakers.
