#11 of Best Things to Do in Edinburgh
Churches and Cathedrals
YA MEI
From the appearance of St. Giles Cathedral, it is so solemn and sacred! Entering the church, it is even more awe-inspiring, its architectural design, sculpture art, historical traces, all moving, it is worth your visit!

St Andrews Cathedral, once known as Scotland's greatest medieval building, is now a ruin due to war and time, only a few ruins left us vaguely to see the gorgeousness of hundreds of years ago. The two spires of the ruins of the church have become iconic buildings in St Andrew. Although a relic, backed by the North Sea, the scenery is infinitely good.

The Queen's chapel is in Edinburgh Castle. It should be a historic remains of Edinburgh, having experienced many battles and was used as an arsenal. Now walking by it without guidance, it will not recall its meaning at all. Read the nameplate near it and you can learn about its history. The space inside is very small and the windows are beautiful. There are some cultural relics to visit. Out of respect for it, no photos are taken indoors. Out of the chapel, the surrounding scenery is magnificent.

Visiting Abbey, the birthplace of the Abros Declaration, is a symbol of Scottish independence in practice. When you enter the site, you will start with a building that contains information about the monastery, including its 13th century appearance and about the Declaration itself. After this building you can enter the actual site and see the remains of the Ablos Cathedral. The tomb of the lion of Scotland is in front of the high altar. William built and named it for St. Thomas Beckett. I signed the Aburos Declaration, proclaiming Scottish independence, and I read the text, which means, “We will never be under British rule under any conditions as long as a hundred of us are alive. In fact, we are not fighting for glory, wealth or honor, It is for freedom for freedom alone, no honest man will give up, freedom is life.” Great and exciting declaration. After visiting the remains of the church, you can then visit the grounds and the houses of the abbots. This is part of daily life in the 13th century. You can imagine how it feels to live there during this period. To enjoy the magnificent view of the entire site, it is necessary to climb one of the two towers, and the admission is included in the entrance ticket to the church, the price is £5.50. The monastery here is open all year round, but the museum will be closed one hour in advance in winter, reminding you to arrange your travel time appropriately. Tips: 1. Opening hours: 10 am to 4 pm every day, ticket prices 5.5 pounds. 2. The famous smoked black-line salmon over there must be tasted, which is the most unexpected surprise outside the church.

On the way, in Dunkeld Cathedral, enjoying the spectacular architecture of life for just ten years, how is life meaningful? I think everyone has thought about this, and I am no exception. I think that in the way I want to work, live, achieve relative financial freedom, when I am in a good mood or unhappy, come on a walk-and-go trip, on the road, find my true self, it is also a meaningful life. Recommended Reason Dunkeld Cathedral (Dunkeld Cathedral) started construction in 1260 and was not completed until 1501. It is precisely because it took so long, it combines different architectural styles, including Gothic and Norman styles, and the whole is quite interesting. When I was in the past, I was attracted by its diverse architectural style. The overall environment of the church is still good, very suitable for a person to slowly appreciate. However, it may have not been repaired for a long time, and some areas are deserted. However, the open part is still pretty good. After all, the architectural style of this church is still very varied and worth seeing. Warm reminder friends who travel to the church, remember to bring a calm heart, take out enough time to play, and feel it.
