Xinxu Resistance War Jiuhaijing Red Army Memorial Park

In 1934, the Long March of the Central Red Army, in the upper reaches of the Xiangjiang River, Xing'an, Quanzhou, Guanyang three counties and Kuomintang forces fought bitterly, and finally crossed the Xiangjiang River from Quanzhou and Xing'an, breaking through the fourth blockade line, and smashing the attempt of Chiang Kai-shek to surround the Red Army east of the Xiangjiang River. The Red Army paid a very heavy price. More than 80,000 people were sharply reduced to more than 30,000 when they set off. ​ Guanyang fought the war, which was extremely tragic. Chen Kaixiang broke his heart and was cleared, and more than 100 wounded were thrown into the well...Many of them were sadly in Guanyang. From November 27 to November 30, 1934, in order to cover the main force and the military commission column formed by the central leading organs to rush across the Yangtze River and break through the enemy's fourth road-line, three regiments belonging to the Red Third Army fought in Xinyi and seven regiments of Guijun for four days. The attack was completed but it was also costly. Due to the urgency of the situation, more than 100 Red Army seriously wounded were unable to transfer when the Red Army retreated, and were tied to ropes by the enemy and sacrificed alive and alive. In order to remember the martyrs and comfort Yingling, on August 13, 2017, Guanyang County launched the exploration and salvage of the remains of the Red Army martyrs of Jiuhaijing, and cleared more than 20 human bones at the bends of the underground dark river below the well. On September 26, the same year, Guanyang held a solemn burial ceremony, and buried the remains of the first Red Army martyrs in Jiuhaijing to the Red Army tomb, so that the Red Army martyrs could be buried in the soil for peace. In the Xinyi resistance, the 34th Division of the Red Five Corps, known as the "Deadguard Division", was truncated by the enemy after covering the main Red Army to cross the Xiangjiang River and sacrificed almost all of them. Chen Shuxiang, the division commander, was captured by a bullet in the abdomen during the break, and he was brave enough to wrench his bowels with the last strength of his body and "drain the last drop of blood for the Soviets". We must remember this red history, the red story, learn the spirit of revolutionary bravery and sacrifice, inherit and carry forward the glorious revolutionary tradition, and let the Long March spirit pass on from generation to generation.

The Red Five Divisions of the Red Third Army fought hard for three days and nights with the order of "at all costs, stick to it for three to four days", losing more than half, and blocking the attack of more than 10,000 dominant forces of the Guijun Army. During this time, the field ambulance was established in the Xialiwan Temple. Due to the urgency of the war, more than 100 Red Army seriously wounded in the ambulance were too late to transfer, and were bundled up by the enemy and drove all the way, brutally thrown into the 25-meter-deep wine sea well with machine guns, and more than 120 Red Army soldiers died. Today, the Red Army Memorial Park of Jiuhaijing was built here. The Memorial Park is located about 8 kilometers from Xinyi Town, Guanyang County. There are Red Army Martyrs Cemetery, Memorial Square, Memorial Tower, Martyrs' List, etc. in the park. It is one of the places that many people must go to Guanyang County to engage in red travel. Chen Shuxiang, the 34th division commander of the Red Five Army, was shot in the stomach during the break-up and was seriously wounded and captured. In December 1934, on the way to escort, Chen Shuxiang was not prepared, gritted his teeth, endured a great pain, extended his hand from the wound into his abdomen, licked his intestines, made his best efforts, shouted, twisted his intestines, and sacrificed vigorously, fulfilling his vow to "drain the last drop of blood for the Soviet New China", only 29 years old. The masses buried Chen Shuxiang's headless body with the guards who died together in the current county. After Chen Shuxiang's tomb was embedded in the newly built Hunan Daoxian Martyrs Cemetery.
