A giant tree that feels old
Original Text
Ako is an evergreen tree of the subtropical kuwa family, but it has the image of a tropical tree. It used to be a windbreak forest and is located on a road by the sea. It is said to be a cultural property designated by the former Sakurajima Town. , The age of the tree is a giant tree that feels history and nature, which seems to be about 100 years.
There is a magnificent line of Akou trees along the northern coast of Sakurajima and along the island's roundabout road. The location is right across the road from the sea, and it was originally planted to protect the house from wind and tide, but now it is designated as a natural monument. It's a plant that I don't see in my hometown (Aichi), and I feel like I've come to a warm area in the south. When driving Sakurajima, why not stop by if you have time?
