Birthplace of the U.S. Navy?
Who would have thought this tiny place would be the birthplace of the U.S. Navy? But it is. It's a peaceful place with lots of history and great views.
fun, stop if you are going to Jasper Beach….its on the way in or out!! Stop and read about it and enjoy, if no time well you will miss a nice history lesson
For history buffs this is probably a not to be missed site. It is well marked but there is honestly very little to actually see or do. If you want a quiet picnic spot it's nice.
We happened upon this site accidentally and wandered around to see what it was about. It's hard to imagine naval ships here! The cliff ends so abruptly so watch your step if you walk behind the canno...

It was worth stopping since going by there anyway
Its a small spot, but interesting and nice view of the ocean from the cannon!! The apple tree there had about 500 apples on the ground!
