Edificio Espana

The Spanish Building is located on the west side of Plaza de España in Madrid. It is one of the taller buildings in the business district of the four buildings in Madrid. It is also a model of Spanish 20th century architecture. The Spanish Building was built in 1948, continuing the style of the American Chicago School of "high-rise, iron frame, large horizontal windows, and simple facade", and has always been a geographical landmark building in the commercial center of Madrid. The original building also contained a Crowne Plaza Hotel, a shopping mall, offices and a rooftop swimming pool. The building was then sold, along with the nearby Madrid Tower and other buildings, and changed hands several times.
