Minneriya National Park

The area of Mineriya National Park is very, very large. And many people are the same as us. To come to this national park, I want to see elephants. Everyone here does not need training performances, but let us see the natural environment of elephants and their life patterns.

Mineriya National Park is a very, very large park. The environmental protection of the park is particularly good. You can see a lot of wildlife here, especially to see a lot of elephants, which is a very pleasant surprise.

The national park can only be explored by safari jeeps. We hired a jeep from Sigiriya and reached the entrance of national park in an hour. The jeep traveled through a forest before reaching the Minneriya Tank where we spotted herds of elephants and buffaloes by the reservoir. We were also fortunate to sight some other wild animals like foxes and native birds.

A point worth visiting, my friend and I didn’t have a chartered car. We went from Boronnanuvo Polonnaruwa bus terminal flower 73LKR to the gate of Mineriya National Park. Because when we went in early April, the elephants in the area moved to another smaller national park nearby Kaudulla National Park , so the local Safari jeep driver offered us two people and one car LKR11000 (including tickets per person LKR2500 and jeep one car LKR6000, and take us to the national park, and take us to the bus station after the end), because no one else shared the jeep cost, so the cost was higher. At the end, tip the driver LKR1000, so one person spent LKR6000 to participate in this Safari. The first time I participated in this elephant Safari, I could see a lot of wild elephants up close. It felt very good. I also saw buffalo and peacocks on the way. The whole trip took about three hours.

Mineria National Park is a small one of the nine national parks in Sri Lanka. The park is located between Lion Rock and Polonarwa, with forests, lakes and meadows. However, the huge water storage lake built by King Mahasin in the third century, But Sri Lanka is one of the best places to watch elephants. The lake reservoir area shows grass during the dry season, attracting elephant groups in areas such as Matara, Polonnaruwa and Trincomalee to come here before the dry season to find water and tender grass on the green grassy lakeside, sometimes gathering two or three hundred elephants, but also white, quail, Peacocks and other unknown birds foraging places. When I went that day, the clouds were cloudy and a few showers were raining. When everyone was disappointed, the jeep turned over the trees and drove to the lake. There were hundreds of elephants in front of them. It was shocking and a half hour of bumps was worth it. The whole play process is about 2 hours, the jeep bump is large, be sure to pay attention to safety, otherwise it is easy to bump and hurt. In addition, the dust is large, it is best to prepare a mask.

Some portraits are beautiful, and the beauty here is like oil paintings. I like the dry land here and the creatures in the dead grass and shrubs. It is very close to nature and the air is super good.
