St. Urn's Abbey is a tall Gothic Roman Catholic church built on a scale similar to the nearby Rouen Cathedral, which was first built in the early 14th century and was later interrupted by a century-long war when we were in the abbey, with a rehearsal playing the organ.
MoreThe church is imposing, and although its construction took more than two centuries, the architecture has a remarkable unity as its successive builders have remained true to the original design. The monastery is therefore one of the rare examples of Gothic.

The 14th-century Gothic-style church of Rouen Saint-Van is a simple monastery. The main building structure is radiant outwards, which is very visually shocking. The religious sculptures inside are all art boutiques. There are gardens in the courtyard. It is a 20-minute walk from the train station.
It feels like the style here is very big and the design is very first class.
