A Buddhist temple in lovely gardens
A Buddhist temple set on a hill with quite a beautiful garden surrounding and an extensive cemetery that you can walk through. The temple itself is very impressive and talks are available on the sign...
This temple is best known by the cycads 1,100 years old and the oldest in Japan. And its garden Kampuen (Mt Fuji viewing garden) is nice. At the pond of the garden I heard "moo" the sign that an Ameri...
A temple with large sotetsu, one of Japan's three major sotetsu, I went to worship for the lucky luck of the New Year because it is the oldest and largest sotetsu. You can enjoy a large garden for cactus and temples. It is a temple that you should visit once, such as a pond, pine trees, makashiwa, scenery of Mt. Fuji, etc.
On New Year's Day, there was a Noto earthquake suddenly, and I got a little dark, but I visited Ryukaji Temple in Shimizu. I don't know if the zodiac is a dragon and auspicious this year, but I worshiped. We prayed for the future success of our Hanshin Tigers, including repelling the plague, calming the heavenly and earthly incidents, praying for the health of our family. On New Year's Eve, we have visited Hachimangu Shrine near our house.
When I come to Shimizu, I will visit Ryukaji Temple if I have a chance. I apologize for posting the name of "Ryukaji" confused with "Renkaji", which is many in Japan including Shizuoka. Pay the temple admission fee 400 yen and visit the main shrine from the pond in the garden. I've seen the treasure hall many times, but I like the camel figurines of Chinese pottery. And see the big old sotetsu in the precincts. Fresh whenever you come! So, I enjoy walking.
