The elementary school stands at the ruins of Toba Castle, but it is already closed. It seems that the school building can still be used, but I think it was difficult to go to school on the mountain.

    Login to tangible cultural wealth

    Original Text

When I was walking around the ruins of Toba Castle while waiting for a nearby restaurant, I found this building right next door. It had an old and unique atmosphere, so I caught my eye. On the window glass was a sticker saying, "The former Toba Elementary School Building is a national registered tangible cultural property." It seemed that I couldn't put it inside, so I took a picture from the outside. There was a standing signboard under renovation of the outer wall in front of the gate, so I thought it was carefully preserved.

The oldest reinforced concrete construction in Mie Prefecture

    Original Text

Former Toba Elementary School built on the ruins of Toba Castle. It is the oldest existing reinforced concrete building in Mie Prefecture. The building is open or you can't see it, so you just look at it from the outside.

Is it irresistible for a ruin maniac?

    Original Text

It is located in Shiroyama Park, the site of Toba Castle, where the Kuki Suigun was based. It was used as an elementary school until about 5 years ago, and the site of Toba Castle Honmaru is a playground. It is now maintained as a park, but the building was built in the early Showa period and is preserved as a valuable building.

The old school building in front of Toba Castle. It's still a beautiful building as a ruin, but it's off-limits, so I just looked at it from the outside.

I visited Toba Castle, but I was worried about this adjacent building from the middle. Toba Elementary School was founded in the Meiji era and the current school building was built in 1945. It seems that reinforced concrete elementary school was rare at that time. Toba Castle is a wonderful castle, but I hope that the ruins of this elementary school are also a wonderful building and you can definitely visit the inside. As a ruin, the creepy feeling is not so rough, but it will be dangerous at night. So ...
