Irkutsk is located in the southeast of Eastern Siberia. It is the capital of Russia’s Irkutsk Oblast. The city has a history spanning over 300 years. Irkutsk Oblast is home to over 1500 tourist locations. A popular location is Lake Baikal and Irkutsk is the closest city to it. There are many examples of unique historic architecture in the city. Some outstanding examples are the Church of the Savior, Sobor Bogoyavlensky, Znamensky Monastery, and the city’s various museums.
