avatarGautam1"really enjoyed our time visiting the temple. There is so much to see at this small location that it is easy to find the time passing quickly. You can visit on your own or with a site guide and learn about the history of this place.I have read in the reviews that some have found it crowded, but with a little planning ahead of time you can avoid the busier times durning the day. Also you an call ahead to see if they have any tours booked that day and if so when.Staff were poliet and very helpful.Even with the cheapest camera you will wind up with beautiful photos."

Even Tokyo where neon lights cast futuristic shadows and digital billboards advertise the latest gadgets, even there you will find Japan’s classic character. Restaurants with exquisite handwritten menus, kimono-wearing shoppers searching for festival gifts, historic facades tucked amongst steel and glass. All of this comes together to create modern Japan. See where ancient opera still graces the stage, where flower festivals and tea ceremonies are enthusiastically passed down through the generations, and where the new world blends seamlessly into the old.

Kinkakuji Temple in Kyoto is a place significant not just to Zen Buddhists, but to all those who love beauty and magnificence. The gold-leaf-covered pavilion surrounded by tall pine trees and reflected in the calm lake waters is simply breathtaking!

Kyoto Travel Tips

About Kyoto

Kyoto is an ancient city with over a thousand years of history. Before the Meiji Emperor moved the capital to Tokyo, it was the traditional home of the Japanese royal family. After thousands of years, from legends of ghosts and gods to history and culture, the air and atmosphere in Kyoto is filled with a great mystical charm. When Kyoto was constructed, its street layout and architecture was influenced by the style of Chang’an, and it still retains the same ancient charm. In the Higashiyama District, temples, shrines and altars embody the spiritual side to Kyoto, while the area around Arashiyama carries a classical and elegant atmosphere. No visit to Kyoto would be complete without a taste of traditional delicacies, a stroll along the flowered paths, or a fascinating geisha show.
