Old Government House

Frederickton's old government building, built in 1826, is the residence of the former governor of New Brunswick and an important cultural landmark in the city. Many of the furnishings here are original works from the early 19th century, including tables, chairs, sofas and chandeliers, and there are more than 150 pieces. From 1828 to the founding of the Federation, most important decisions affecting the province were debated in the building. From the federal government until 1996, the building had many uses: schools, barracks, hospitals, and branches of the RCMP. Since 1999, the government building in Brunswick has been open to the public for free. You can visit it inside.
