Photos of Kaitoke Regional Park

Kaitoke Regional Park (Kaitoke Regional Park) has large areas of pristine lowland rainforest, and its charm is enhanced by well-established walking trails and attractive riverside picnic and caravan parks. It was also the filming location for Rivendell and the crossing of the River Essien in the movie The Lord of the Rings Trilogy. Shallow rays of light filter through ancient tree crevices, clear streams flow through, and the whole area comes alive. The park has nearly 2,500 hectares of luxuriant native forest, including zelkova, rimu cypress, ferruginosa, henau and kamash. At the popular Pakuratashi fork, ancient Rita and Rimu trees overlook the green canopy of Kamashi, Henau and Milo trees. There are also many rare birds living in the park, such as olive parrots, yellow-crowned parakeets and a considerable number of New Zealand falcons. The clear waters of the Hutt and Pakuratashi rivers are perfect for swimming. The inaccessible Hutt River Gorge gives kayak tourists a rare opportunity to travel through beautiful forests and scenic spots. It even retains its original appearance from centuries ago. Kayaking visitors experience three levels of rapids. Therefore, tourists need to have relevant adventure experience. The Kaitoke Mountain Walk will take you on an 8km mountain bike tour. In 45 minutes, you will experience unparalleled excitement.
