The hotel is ideally situated overlooking the harbour. Easy walking into the town of Looe via a bridge. The staff were very welcoming and made our visit special. The breakfast was excellent with as much as you could eat. We also had an evening meal and the food was delicious every night. I would definitely recommend this hotel. The room we had was a bit dated but the bed was really comfortable and we had soft white towels in the bathroom. Good value for money.

Mark and the team fitted me into the Sunday Carvery at The Portbyhan Hotel and Restaurant. Wow! Amazing food, fresh by the harbour, lovely staff. Hot food and a great view. Not many places in Looe offer Sunday Carvery and may I add that there was up to three meats up for grab and fresh food. Good value for money and I would definitely come again.

Nice hotel with lovely white thick towels, nice room bed was good, and the staff are excellent and very friendly.on Monday the food was excellent and each day it got worse. Today I ordered belly pork, never had it before so I wanted to try it, oh my god it was full of fat didn’t eat any, so evening main meal was potatoes and veg. Would not recommend the food but the hotel is very nice, we came on a coach trip with David Ogdens we won’t be returning

Stayed here as part of an Easter weekend break with Edward's coaches All areas of the hotel are clean and well presented There is a variety of choices for breakfast and evening meal Choosing in advance was good for me as I could work out dietary requirements in advance of meals Great Cornish cream tea on arrival made a good first impression Thanks to Mark and the team for their brilliant customer service Would definitely book to come here again

A spotlessly clean hotel ,we had booked an upgraded room travelling with Crusader coaches. Our room and shower were not really big enough for two people ,toilet on arrival did not flush ,and was fixed next morning. The staff were very friendly and helpful.Food was very good and table service was efficient ,but on our final dinner (Sunday) we had to wait almost an hour after our starter for the main cause to be served.

Visited on Sunday for Mothers Day after husband had made a prior reservation a few weeks in advance. He asked for a window table but unfortunately those in the restaurant were booked so they booked us a window seat in the brasserie which was welcomed. There were 6 of us in total - 2 adults, 4 children and we were sat in a well positioned area offering us enough space to enjoy our meal, the only downside for me about the brasserie is the layout of the windows meant that I didn’t actually get to benefit from the estuary view because of the cross beams so when sitting they obscured the view somewhat. The area we were in would be fantastic with some comfy chairs or a sofa and coffee table that are seated lower enabling the customer to really enjoy the benefit of such a lovely location. On booking we had been told previously that if requested our son could have a children’s meal instead of the carvery on offer on Sundays so my husband had made sure this was prearranged. Although it was Mothering Sunday and the staff were clearly very busy they were still very hospitable, friendly and courteous. If you’re seated in the brasserie when it’s the carvery you do have to walk through the reception area and back up some stairs so this is something to bear in mind especially when assisting and carting our children’s carveries as well as our own. We would’ve also liked to have been offered another drink but understood the staff were extremely busy so this may be why this was missed. The carvery itself (like previously stated in my other review) was fantastic, the chef serving was also really lovely especially to our children addressing them, asking what they would like. The meat was so tasty and the option of well done or medium rare beef was great. The vegetables were all cooked perfectly, the yorkshires were perfect, and the stuffing was the most tasty I’ve had in a long while. It was a very lovely Mother’s Day meal, with the added bonus of a little gift for myself (the mother!) and also the use of our locals discount card. As we’ve said before we’ll definitely be back.

- great view ✅ - Nice atmosphere ✅ - Incredible food ✅ - Varied menu ✅ - The best staff team ✅ Booking a last minute table for eight isn’t easy, and honestly I wasn’t expecting it to be the best meal I’d had in a long time. However, it was. The team working were incredible, tentative but not too in your face. I hadn’t realised how much I missed pre-pandemic dining where you don’t have a two hour slot to get in and get out. It felt like dining at a friends and not wanting to leave their dinner party. 100% would recommend. Only constructive criticism I have, is to add service charge to the bill or allow your staff to add tips onto a card payment. I wanted to tip these lovely people and could only rustle up a measly £6 in change. So until this is changed make sure you bring some cash to tip them!

Hotel staff were all very friendly and helpful. Good location in lovely seaside town. The dinners were very good. Choice and amount. The service was 1st class. Organised as feeding two coach loads. Only last night slight delay but was passed on to all be 5/10 mins late. Gave us a rest which was nice. Breakfast was buffet and had all the usual. Only negative was you had to order eggs if not want fried and then the fried eggs were slow in coming as it appeared to have one cook and one frying pan? But everything else as again 1st class. We had room 309 which other reviews mention the noisy air con unit. Not air con for the room but assumed kitchens. So not on all the time. My wife said it was like being on an airplane. Also very hot even in feb with no heating on. Plus was a fan was supplied. Bathroom small but clean and good towels. Shower small with up and down temperture. Nice bar area with views of the harbour.

We had a lovely weekend together n Looe. The staff at the hotel were fantastic and couldn’t do enough for us. We had our small dog Alfie with us and they provided a little gift bag and never allowed us to eat breakfast in the bar area so he could come with us. The hotel rooms were simple but very clean and comfortable.
