Coed y Brenin Forest Park

The forest scenery is amazing, because the birds are around the cafe, not afraid of pedestrians, and you can see the low-flying Royal Air Force planes flying over the valley, there are waterfalls in the forest, you can rent various sports facilities in the visitor center, and the bathroom has a shower.

Travelled from north Wales on Monday morning for a day cycling at coed y brenin, cycled the green route in the morning, went back to the centre for some lunch only to find it was take out only, with a huge cafe area and not many customers to put up a few tables and eat indoors would have been more than possible and safe with ample room for social distancing in the cafe area, very disappointing. Spent over £40 yesterday on food in the centre only to eat outside when there was literally no-one there!! Surely eating in could have been possible.packed lunch next time.( Disappointed)

An unforgettable mountain bike trip This is our first mountain bike experience in Wales. Near the town of Dolgeland, we can't find a better place than coed y brenin Forest Park. Dolgeland is the first specially built mountain center in the UK. Also the largest mountain centre. In an area where parking is a problem, there is plenty of space but you do have to pay up to £7 a day. They use vehicle registration identification cameras so once you pay for your license plate, you can drive out. We booked our mountain bike online through the well-stocked bike shop for £55 all day (9am to 4pm). Each bike is equipped with a helmet, which must be brought for life. Also you need to bring your ID card (passport). The staff in the store is efficient but not very friendly. You can also bring a tool bag so you can change your tires. There are four routes - green (simple mode), blue (normal mode), red (challenge mode) and black (hell mode). We chose the blue track, which consists of four rings over 12 kilometers, the first three rings gradually become longer and the back is gradually harder and more challenging, and they have many interesting features such as stone steps, platforms and fantastic ramps. In early 2019, the fourth ring line with technical features such as jumping and falling was opened, and it was quite difficult to climb to the top of the mountain to watch the magnificent waterfall. When you arrive at the waterfall, you turn right first, then go vertically down the mountain at the fastest speed, then stabilize and return to the bike shop. Special mention to the lady at the reception center who was helpful when we were in an emergency. The forest mountain road NCR 82 below COED is very rough. Fortunately we were healthy, although a whole day mountain bike ride was hard, but it was worth the effort, and the waterfall was epicly magnificent and if you want you can walk to one of them or both. TIPs: 1. I suggest you print or download your walking route before you go (the visitor center charges a map fee). 2. Prepare at least one mountain bike tire.
