Worth the trip!
I recommend it however you don’t need to pay for the whole ticket. You don’t get as close however you still can see the stones pretty well!
The cheap option
Cheap way to see the Stones. The footpath is ‘the other side of the fence’ to the visitor’s path. You cant avail yourself of the visitor facilities but if you don't mind looking past people and don’...

Well marked with the grassed area well maintained. Plastic walkway was not helpful for me, it was probably laid so you could more easily avoid any mud.
