At the beginning of the new year, experience the most beautiful village in winter in Shirakawa Village
❤Overseas New Year, so snowy winter is more suitable for the New Year!
🌟Shirakawa Village is located in the "Hida" region of Gifu Prefecture, often referred to as "Hida Shirakawa Village", it can be said to be the central region of Japan, it is world-renowned for its unique house construction of gassho-zukuri, and is also part of the World Heritage List.
🧳The Gassho-zukuri houses date back to around 1800, the oldest existing house is nearly 300 years old, the development of the environment led to the original village being submerged by geological disasters, gradually disappearing in fires, and finally preserving more than 100 original houses.
📝What is "Gassho-zukuri"? Through the construction of wood on the beams and columns, integrating Japanese house construction techniques, combined with the local "Kirizuma Gassho-zukuri" technique, considering the amount of snow in winter and the quality of snow and other natural conditions, the resulting building is Gassho-zukuri!
🏨Entering Shirakawa Village, many attractions and humanities are waiting for visitors. The winter in Shirakawa Village begins to snow in late December, located in the foothills, the snow in winter is very heavy, in the era of inconvenient roads, it is also known as "land island", now it is not lacking in visitors, because it is the skiing place of Gifu Prefecture, and also an important place for winter lighting festival.

it is such a winter fairy tale. I visited here during a snow showering day and everything is blanketed in pure white. it is a moment of my life
There are not many practical strategies in Shirakawa Township. I will add them. I hope it will help everyone's plans and travel. My route is from Nagoya-Takayama-Shirakawa Township, staying in the mountains. There is only a bus from Takayama to Shirakawa Township. We can go online to check the Nongfei bus website for information about the time. The bus stop is next to the left hand side of the Takayama Railway Station, within 50 meters, very convenient. Figure 3. The fare is 2,600 yen, and there is no discount of 5,200 yen. The difference between the bus and the non-reservation is that there are fixed seats (Figure 1) for the reservation. There are only white tickets for the non-reservation (Figure 2). Once the ticket is sold out, only the back shifts are bought. (Figure 10), in addition, they also have a day trip bus for Shirakawa Township, see Figure 8. Take the bus at the entrance of the ticket office, wait for the bus at No. 4, see Figure 4. Shirakawa Township is about 50 minutes one way, arrive at Shirakawa Township, get off and walk to the village, it is recommended to go to the observation deck first, there is a shuttle bus at the entrance of the village, see Figure 9 for the location of the car, every 20 minutes, 200 yen. If it is about 15 minutes walk, it is also a good experience, it is to climb a slope. The ground is slippery in winter, be careful. The whole village is about 2 hours. If you encounter a light ceremony, this is a need to make an appointment. If you make a successful appointment, you will send a hang card and write a few months. Encountered the lighting ceremony, the village entrance began to not let outside people in at around 17:00, except for the successful appointment of the hanging card. Because I did not make an appointment, I rushed back to the mountain at 17:30, so I left the village. In theory, you can stay in the village to watch the lights, but you need to solve the traffic problem of returning to the mountains. If you live in Baichuan Township B&B, that is another thing. I won't say anything about the scenery, too many people commented lyrically. As long as the traffic problem is solved, it is still worth walking once.
Came to visit at night time so I couldn't fully explore the place. However, I was impressed by its unique and beautiful houses. Would definitely go back soon.
Beautiful place. I like it very much. love the scenery and hiw the water is so clean and clear with fishes swimming in it in the canel.
A traditional Japanese village with more than 100 gasssho houses. It's registered as a World Heritage site. Lovely and beautiful, especially in winter.
