Wuwei City Kumarajiva Temple
Kumarajiva Temple is located on North Street in Wuwei City, Gansu Province. It was first built in the Later Liang Dynasty, and the tower and temple were greatly expanded during the Tang Dynasty, and were repaired during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. It was built in memory of the Western Region monk Kumarajiva and has a history of more than 1600 years. It is a precious relic for studying the culture of the Five Liang, Han Buddhism, and Western Region Buddhism.
Kumarajiva Temple was built in the first year of Linjia (389) of the Later Liang Emperor Lv Guang to settle Kumarajiva's body and mind. He recruited craftsmen from all over the country and built it on a large scale. It was the place where Kumarajiva first settled in the mainland to preach and teach. Kumarajiva vowed during his lifetime: "If the translated scriptures are correct, the tongue will not rot after death." And left a will, after death, the tongue was buried in Guzang. In 409, Kumarajiva passed away, and the people of Liangzhou built the Rosh Tower in Guzang in memory of Kumarajiva, and buried Kumarajiva's tongue relics under the tower according to his will.
Kumarajiva (344—409), Chinese translation name Tongshou, is the first of the four major translators in the history of Chinese Buddhism, and the first person in the history of Chinese Buddhism to systematically and deeply spread Buddhist scriptures in Chinese, opening a new era in the history of translation. He studied Buddhist scriptures from a young age and had a deep attainment. The King of Kucha regarded him as a national teacher. Whenever Rosh lectured, the king and the public often knelt beside him, allowing Rosh to step on his back and ascend, and his reputation was very high in the Western Regions; in 386, Lv Guang returned to the east and brought Kumarajiva to Liangzhou. Since then, Kumarajiva has been preaching in Liangzhou, greatly promoting Buddhism, and has been living for seventeen or eighteen years; in 403, Yao Xing of the Later Qin extinguished the Later Liang and invited Kumarajiva to Chang'an to translate Buddhist scriptures. Kumarajiva has a deep research on Buddhist scriptures and is proficient in Chinese. He has translated about seventy or more scriptures and more than three hundred volumes, many of which have been passed down to later generations and have a profound impact on the spread of Buddhism.
The Roshi Temple Tower was built in Houliang (386 ~ 400 years), and the tower and monastery were vigorously expanded in Tang Dynasty, and were repaired in Ming and Qing. During the Ming Dynasty, it became a monastery in Liangzhou, Shaanxi Province. On February 15, the orthodoxy of the British and Chinese ten years, the Da Tibetan Sutra was issued for the Luoshi monastery, and the Holy Prophet said: "Printing the Da Tibetan Sutra, giving it to the world, spreading widely, we will settle the Da Tibetan Monastery in Liangzhou, Shaanxi Province, and provide for Yongguang." This scorpion is now well preserved in the temple. The existing Roshi Temple tower is 12 floors, 32 meters high, all made of bar square brick. From the bottom of the third, fifth and eight floors are all set up doors, the top is a gourd-shaped copper bottle, the top of the upper layer has a small Buddha, there is a Buddha statue inside. The tower of the Roche Temple, which stands in the sky, symbolizes the long and civilized history of the ancient city of Wuwei, and is also a witness to the cultural exchanges between China and the West on the Silk Road more than 1,500 years ago.
Loshi Temple is located on the North Street of Liangzhou District, Wuwei City, built in the post-East Jin Liang Dynasty (386-403), is a monastery built for the Chinese Buddhist scripture translator Luoshi, has a history of more than 1600 years. According to the historical records, in the early years of the Houliang founding, Lu Guangxu held the Western monks and Morosh after arriving in Wuwei, in order to settle his body and mind, he ordered the recruitment of skilled craftsmen from all over the world, Daxing Shimu built the monastery, and after the construction, he named the Morosh Temple, so that the master of Morosh lived in it. After Master Roche's death, his disciples obeyed his will and worshipped his "tongue" and built a memorial tower in the place where he worshiped the "tongue", which is today's Roche Temple Tower. The tower is the only well-preserved ancient building of Luoshi Temple, and is now a key cultural relics protection unit at the provincial level in Gansu.
The Roshi Temple Pagoda, also known as the Reflection Tower, is located in the Gomorash Temple in Wuwei City, Gansu Province. It is said that the Gomorash Temple is a famous ancient Western monk and Buddhist scripture translator Gomorash first entered the mainland to translate scriptures and perform teachings. After the silence of the Morosh, "the salary is broken, but the tongue is not bad". Disciples obey the words of the Morosh and ask for the Luosh Temple. When Yao Qin, the believer felt his merit and raised funds to build the tower, called the Roshsheli Tower, and the tower was dedicated to the tongue of the Morosh. Shumoroshi (343-413), one of the four major Buddhist scripture translators of Han Chinese Buddhism after the 16th Dynasty of the Eastern Jin Dynasty. The Shamrosh and Xuanzhao Masters are very famous translations of the scriptures, and Shamrosh is called the "father of the eight Buddhists", because most of the scriptures in the Buddhist gates are modeled on the Shamrosh version, and the Zheng of the eight Buddhist scriptures is also listed here. But only the "Prajbormitodor Sutra" is the classic version of Xuanzhao, the verse translated by Xuanzhao mages total 268 words, except the title "Prajbormitor Sutra" 8 words is 260 words, is this is the seven versions of the least number of words in a scripture volume. The second version is translated by Master Samorosh, which contains no titles totaling 298 words.
