Service: The hotel staff were wonderful, very friendly and professional. They helped us with our luggage and even made our beds. Compared to some much more expensive hotels I've stayed at, the service here was even better! I was a bit worried about the service after reading some reviews, but it was absolutely unfounded. My friend and I both regretted not staying an extra night."

"This is the hotel we changed from the chain hotel at the station. Because there is a hot spring here. It is only one stop from the airport to the hotel, and even if you take a taxi, it is only 50 RMB. There is a very convenient bus stop at the door of the hotel, and it takes about 30 minutes to get to the city. The hotel's breakfast is very rich and you can eat it every day. The hot spring service is also quite commendable.
I highly recommend it. If you go with a family, book a room by the sea. In fact, it is very cost-effective. One room can accommodate 4~5 people, and then looking at the seaside is very good."

"I'd call this unbeatable. First off, the front desk service was truly above and beyond my expectations. It was snowing heavily, and the bellhop was still waiting outside for guests to arrive, helping with luggage. The outdoor private onsen in the room was also exceptional; the view and atmosphere were incredible. The breakfast, with its unbeatable ocean view, topped it all off. I had a wonderful day in Hakodate!"

GGuest UserAbsolutely beautiful and distinctly Japanese. It's understated yet profound. You can just pull back the curtains and behold the Sea of Okhotsk, watching the drift ice float by as large snowflakes fall. Chatting aimlessly with friends here, I suddenly felt life had gained a richer, more fulfilling meaning. The staff were professional, and they even stored our luggage in advance so we could hike the Five Lakes. This will definitely be my top choice if I ever visit Eastern Hokkaido again!

GGuest UserDo NOT choose this hotel for skiing!! Unless it's half the price during the same period, I'll never pick this place again. Prioritize other hotels with shuttle buses to Otaru Station.
First, the location: This is Otaru-Chikko Station, two stops away from Otaru Station. The nearest convenience store is a 10-minute walk outside. Although there's a mall downstairs, its operating hours are 10:00 AM - 8:00 PM, which is the only time you can use the indoor passage. Most restaurants close around 7 PM, so it's really inconvenient to find food after skiing.
Second, it's really old! The carpet in my room type was dirty, the bed was rock hard, and the pillow felt like a worn-out cotton pillow – small and flat. The worst part is that after sleeping, my head developed small bumps and became very itchy!! I don't know if it was fleas, but it made me scratch my head for the next few days. The hygiene is truly concerning.
This hotel has no coin-operated washing machines or laundry rooms, only individual dry cleaning, which is very expensive. This is super inconvenient for skiers staying for an extended period.
frankly, the only good thing about this hotel is the room size; everything else is a huge letdown.

The Highlights
Exceptional Dining: Each meal was a work of art, prepared with incredible precision and seasonal flair. I especially appreciated the front desk’s proactive service—they consistently checked in to coordinate my preferred dining times, ensuring every meal was served perfectly fresh.
Spacious Public Baths: The onsen facilities are fantastic. The public area is expansive and never felt crowded. Having both a sauna and a serene outdoor bath (rotenburo) made for a deeply relaxing experience.
Comfortable Living: Unlike many traditional stays, the room here was very spacious and exceptionally well-heated, which made for a cozy retreat after a day of exploring.
The Verdict
This isn't just a place to sleep; it’s a place to be looked after. Between the thoughtful staff, the gourmet catering, and the top-tier bath facilities, Spa Shiosai offers the perfect balance of tradition and comfort. Highly recommended!

GGuest UserThis hotel was absolutely perfect for the price, exceeding all my expectations! The lobby bar on the first floor offers complimentary hot drinks, and it seems there's even a gym available for use. The room was meticulously clean and came equipped with a women's toiletry kit and other amenities. It's just a three-minute walk to Hakodate JR Station and the bus terminal. Right across the street is Hakodate's famous soup curry, and there's a convenience store and Saizeriya nearby.

GGuest UserThe hotel is a bit old, but the experience was great. The front desk staff used a translation device, which made communication smooth. Every room has a hot spring bath, and the toiletries provided are very comprehensive. My only complaint is that there were some strange noises at night, which was a little unsettling. The French restaurant was decent, and the service there was excellent.

KK LouThere is dust found at the corner of the bathroom and entrance, still acceptable. The breakfast is great! The staffs are all friendly and helpful! However, not sure whether is the fault and problem of other customers, weird spicy smell can be found in the corridor area at my floor, and got into my room and I had to open the window to let it out. I hope the hotel can set some rules to prohibit those kind of customers' behaviours.

SSyazwan MokhtarI had an amazing time at this hotel. You will need to take 15 minutes taxi ride to reach here from Otaru station. It's right by the beach. Room is super spacious and comforting. There's kitchen and dining area. It was snowing so the balcony is filled with snow but the view is just so amazing. The staffs are very helpful. You can check in early with a small fee. Breakfast was simple. Complete amenities.

GGuest UserFor a B&B hotel, there are restrictions on check-in and front desk coffee hours, the hot spring pool is relatively small, dinner and breakfast are Japanese style, the products are relatively ordinary, and the sashimi is not fresh enough. You can pick up at the hotel for ice rafting and five lakes hiking.

DdebbyThe hotel is not in the city center, but it is very easy to get to the hotel by bus. The room is relatively small and the windows and doors cannot be opened. Since it is centrally air-conditioned, the heating is very warm (hot). If you are not used to the heating opening, it will be a bit The baby is hot and toasty, but if you turn off the air conditioner, there will be no air circulation. So after I communicated with the staff, he gave me a fan. The service was very attentive and the price of the hotel was very affordable. I will definitely stay again.
