This hotel is located right on the Johor Strait, and from my room, I had a great view of the bridge connecting Malaysia and Singapore. Both the room and the bathroom were spacious and comfortable. The buffet breakfast was also excellent and plentiful. It's a grand hotel with a impressive feel, yet it's very well-managed. A tall young man at the front desk was particularly helpful; he even spoke Chinese, which made communication very smooth. Since the hotel is quite large, I wasn't sure where to park, and he personally escorted me to the parking lot behind the hotel. That was a really thoughtful gesture, and I'd like to express my gratitude to him here!

Clean room. Friendly & helpful staff. Location not so convenient cos of the RTS construction. Swimming pool & other facilities on level 13 under renovation during our stay. Shower screen glass door faulty, cannot close completely, water flow out when we shower. Whole toilet floor wet. Floor tiles not the anti fall tiles. Breakfast was so so only. Lots of varieties but taste not there. I rather they focus on fewer dishes and taste good.
Facilities: The facilities are a bit old, which is understandable since the hotel itself is quite old.
Hygiene: Despite the hotel being old, it was very clean. The room had no strange smells, and the beach was also clean with no rubbish.
Environment: The environment was absolutely fantastic, haha! The beach is right outside, and when we went, there was hardly anyone around. It was incredibly relaxing, and we could see the sea right from our room.
Service: The staff were very welcoming. The buffet was decent; I especially loved the soft-boiled eggs. Although the air conditioning, hairdryer, and sink drainage were all broken on the first day of check-in, and they couldn't fix it overnight, they did move us to another room on the second day. Overall, I'd give it a 4 out of 5.
Stayed at Sand & Sandals Resort in Desaru and it was such a relaxing and enjoyable experience. The resort has a spacious, tropical vibe with big rooms, comfy beds, and a nice balcony to unwind. The pool area is great for chilling, and the beach is just a short walk away — perfect for morning strolls and golden hour photos.
Service was friendly, and the location made it easy to get around for food, activities, and day trips. It’s a solid choice if you want a fuss-free, beachside stay that feels calm and refreshing.
Overall, a pleasant resort for couples, families, or a girls’ trip getaway. 🌊💛
Check in and check out really fast and smooth. Not many people checked in compared to my previous booking which took more than half an hour. The room is very spacious and I love the king bed and super single bed. More than enough for me, husband and 2 daughters. The bathroom is spacious too. I love everything in the room esp the seaview balcony The food for room dining also very reasonable. The breakfast is just average. Quite limited choices and RM55/pax for breakfast is not really worth it since limited choices. Better to order from menu. Ample parking (open and covered parking). Overall, I had a great stay and definitely will return
I was unlucky during my stay since the we couldn't swim in the sea due to strong wave. But the swimming pool is more than enough.

Great and comfortable stay with a fabulous sea view. All great with prompt service via WhatsApp, spacious, clean, except that the toilets have bad sewage smell, and it’s abit cumbersome with the QR code on the glass door to the building, and sensitive key pad for main door code. Luckily response was quick enough to settle all issues. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and will book again for big groups in future again.

The view from the unit's balcony is world-class, but unfortunately, the door lock is loose, and the laundry balcony door can only be opened from the outside, not locked from the inside. This made us feel unsafe. Sometimes at night, we'd hear noises and have to go outside to check, worried someone might enter in the middle of the night. We even had to rig something to tie the doorknob.
The unit itself is well-equipped, but the shower water pressure was insufficient, very weak, and the hot water wasn't hot enough, only lukewarm. We stayed for 5 nights, and they didn't provide extra garbage bags, luckily we brought our own. The bedding was clean, but there were always ants in the living and dining area. Even after wiping the table several times, the ants kept coming back. I hope the host makes some improvements to ensure guests feel more secure and comfortable during their stay.
This was our second stay since 2015, and while the rooms are spacious, the resort now feels dated. I was particularly upset by the cleaning policy; our room had no ”Do Not Disturb” signage provided, and housekeeping entered to clean while we were out for breakfast without our request.
As I prefer to secure my personal belongings before anyone enters, this lack of privacy was very uncomfortable. The resort has good beach access, but they must provide door tags and respect guest boundaries. A neutral experience overall compared to our first visit.

FFichFirst i want to review on booking experience. I was so pissed off with Trip.com booking. I entered 3 adults upon search & result showed an option of 3 occupancy room with full-board package for 2 adult. There is option for full-board 3 adults however since the first option was cheaper i was thinking to arrange my own for the additional 1 adult boat transfer & not require the meal package. It was shocking that when i reached the check in office it is mandatory to pay for the 3rd adult boat n meal package to the resort. My question here WHY trip.com put the option for 2 adult knowing the resort does not allow the 3rd person to check in??? This is a scammm for me because i entered 3 adults requirement at the first place for the booking. Both resort & trip.com are not synchronise with the information.
Now going to resort stay experience: The resort staff were all great & the service was also on point. However, the condition of the resort was so below my expectation. I paid RM 700+ per night & i don’t feel worth it. Everything was super outdated & worn off. Especially the bathroom. The floors were cracked open & was swarming with bugs & insects & some people might get allergic to them. The bedroom is self was okay & comfy. Also food-wise, they served a lot of seafood & didn’t ask if anyone was allergic or not which one of us is. For RM 700 per night i expected it is included some activities we could do at the resort however it was disappointing that everything was chargeable whereas they are non-motorised & doesn’t even use resource / maintenance such as kayak & snorkel gear. The only nice thing at the resort was staff friendliness & the food taste.
