This hotel was the best one throughout our trip.
Having visited Kanazawa before, I knew all their hotels are basically on the same street, making the location extremely convenient for attractions and well-situated.
So, I didn't choose the usual hotel but picked this one which seemed like a good value for money.
And the check-in experience was absolutely perfect.
It's been a while since I've experienced Japanese-style service, and their service here was quite good. Although it's not a traditional ryokan 'okami' service (where they unpack your bags), all their staff members were incredibly polite and enthusiastic.
The hotel is directly opposite Oyama Shrine, and you can walk through to Gyokusen-en Garden. We spent about 20 minutes exploring it in the morning.
However, one thing to note is that linen changes and bathroom cleaning are subject to an additional charge. This might be something to consider for longer stays, but since we were only there for two days, it wasn't an issue.
We booked a room with some basic kitchen utensils, so we were able to buy ingredients from the supermarket and make sukiyaki, which helped us balance our diet during the trip. The hotel is also very close to Omicho Market, making it convenient to buy fresh seafood and other groceries. For those on a shorter trip, cooking might not be necessary.
Also, the hotel is quite new, and the room wasn't small, so it was very comfortable.
Mitsui Garden Kanazawa exceeded my expectations. The location is absolutely central! easy walking distance to the Omicho Market, Kenrokuen Garden, and the castle. The breakfast buffet was delicious, with a great mix of Japanese and Western dishes, including fresh seafood and local specialties. What really stood out, though, was the incredibly friendly and helpful staff, they made us feel genuinely welcome. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Kanazawa!
Great location, very close to the station and surprisingly quiet. However, there was a strong BBQ smell in the hotel hallway, likely from the yakiniku restaurant downstairs. It actually smelled quite good! We even ended up eating there. My clothes definitely smelled of grilled meat afterward. I didn't take any photos of the hotel itself, but it had a rather artistic vibe to it.
The staff was very nice, very helpful and good English, spacious room, clean and great amenities, near Kanazawa Castle, traditional Omachi market, very close to Kanazawa Station (walking around 20-30 minutes)(public transport starting operation 7 30 in the morning) and near to public bath house (Onsen), will return to stay next time
Stay here for 3 night. Room with breakfast. No variation for their breakfast. Every day is with the same dishes. Also the staff at the reception are not helpful despite asking if there are e available parking lot that can be made available since there are guest checking out. But they insist for us to drive the car from the affiliate parking lot to the hotel to book the space first despite that we told them we are heading out. There is no point for us to just drive the car here and eventually we are still going to drive out isn’t it. They could have just took our car particulars and secure the lot. Very unhelpful young staff till a nicer Japanese older lady willing to assist us.
The hotel's overall design is stunning, and the traditional Japanese ambiance envelops you from the moment you step through the door. The use of gold, red, and black makes the entire hotel feel elegant, dignified, and luxurious. The products in the on-site gift shop are also very unique and beautiful, making you want to buy them, and they aren't even particularly expensive.
Amazing stay. Very conveniently located just 5-10 min from the station. The room was spacious and well equipped, very comfortable.
The only things to know are: it’s very close to the station so you will sometimes hear trains depending on your rooms location. The AC was also restricted during my stay so it would only stay at one temperature and you couldn’t make it colder.
Other than that it was a great stay
Conveniently located just a 5-minute walk from JR Komatsu Station. Our natural hot spring, "Hekiho no Yu," features authentic hot spring baths and open-air baths supplied with genuine spring water. Both male and female facilities are equipped with saunas featuring "Auto-Loyly" systems, alongside refreshing cold plunges and well-designed outdoor air-bath areas. It is the perfect place to soothe your body and soul.
For breakfast, enjoy our Japanese and Western buffet with approximately 50 varieties of dishes. Don't miss our local specialties, such as "Komatsu Noto Beef Udon" and "Kanazawa Bocha (Roasted Green Tea) Pudding."
We also offer our signature complimentary services, including the famous "Yonaki Soba" (late-night soy sauce ramen) and post-bath ice cream. With guest rooms designed for both functionality and comfort, our hotel is the ideal base for both business and leisure travelers.
This hotel is excellent! It's super close to JR Kanazawa Station, making it easy to walk to Omicho Market, the castle town area, and the Samurai District. Plus, public transport is conveniently nearby. The hotel staff were wonderful, and they even offered free drip coffee and access to a large public bath. If I visit Kanazawa again, I'd definitely choose this hotel.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. There are many facilities including laundry room, lounge area (with tea and coffee provided), massage chairs and public spa bath; all of which do not require extra charges). The breakfast was delicious and had many food varieties to choose from.
Although the location is not close to any public transport, the hotel offers free shuttle bus to and from the Kanazawa station every 30 minutes. This is very convenient.

Amazing
YYuduotianPatThis was my first time visiting Kanazawa and staying at this onsen ryokan, and it offered excellent value for money. The breakfast was absolutely delicious, with very fresh sashimi, fruits, and milk. The room was comfortable and cozy, and the onsen was fantastic, very relaxing. They even offered complimentary late-night ramen after 9:30 PM, which was also tasty. I would definitely choose to stay at this onsen ryokan again on my next visit to Kanazawa.
TTY-Ngeasy to find, just 2 min walk from train station and a big building in your right hand side. Though not a new hotel with something in common area preferred to be renewed; in side the room is very nice, large room compared with usual standard.
Breakfast very nice
GGuest UserThis was a truly satisfying stay. Before checking in, I had visited Shirakawa-go and was a little disappointed not to see any snow. But then, on my first morning at the hotel, I pulled back the curtains to find it snowing heavily! It was absolutely amazing. I decided right then and there not to go anywhere and just enjoy the snow from the hotel.
The hotel is a bit older, but the room was clean and tidy. I had upgraded my room, and it wasn't small at all. The area mentioned in the description probably just refers to the room itself, but the entryway was also very spacious, allowing me to easily open my large luggage. The indoor balcony in front was also quite large, perfect for a family to sit and enjoy the snow.
The floor-to-ceiling windows offered direct mountain views, with the river flowing right below. The large floor-to-ceiling windows in the restaurant lobby were even more stunning – it was wonderful to enjoy the snow while dining.
Even the outdoor onsen provided beautiful views of the snow and river while soaking. The best part was how few people there were; both times, it was just me and my daughter, so there was no need to book a private onsen.
Behind the hotel, there's a walking trail. We explored it that day, and while the heavy snow made it a bit challenging to walk, it was incredibly beautiful and completely deserted. Every photo we took was a scenic masterpiece. Our shoes and socks got wet on the way back, but thankfully, we didn't feel cold.
There are convenience stores and supermarkets nearby, making it very convenient to buy food and other necessities. I would definitely recommend this hotel to friends.
The staff were also very friendly. Although most of them didn't speak English, they used translation software, so communication was just a bit slow.

KKyooTieGreat location, this hotel was easily located within walking distance from the major Samurai / Geisha streets. It felt very safe and the bed was extremely comfy.
The breakfast selection was simple, but there were plenty of restaurants and conbinis nearby for when you get a bit peckish.
MMiaowuThis hotel is super convenient, right next to JR Kanazawa Station. The rooms are large, neat, and clean, and even come with a small kitchen. The service is excellent, and they offer free coffee, Ichiban Shibori beer, and other drinks in the lobby every day – I especially loved the apple sparkling water! It's an outstanding hotel that I highly recommend.
AAnonymous UserThis hotel is clearly showing its age and may not meet expectations for those looking for a more modern or well-maintained stay. While it carries the IHG branding, the overall experience feels dated.
One of the main challenges was communication. The front desk staff had very limited English proficiency, making it difficult to get clear directions—especially regarding parking. Guests are required to go to the front desk to ask about parking arrangements, which is not very convenient. The signage outside is also misleading, and it’s easy to mistakenly park at a nearby open-air lot that charges ¥100 per 15 minutes or ¥1000 for 12 hours. The hotel’s designated parking is actually located in a shopping mall, which is not immediately obvious.
The rooms themselves are quite old, with worn facilities. The bathroom had a noticeable musty smell, suggesting poor ventilation or maintenance. Amenities were basic—Dove toiletries were provided instead of the more commonly seen Pola brand in Japanese hotels. The air conditioning was also ineffective, which made the stay less comfortable.
That said, the hotel does have one strong advantage: location. It is directly opposite Ōmichō Market, making it very convenient for exploring the market and enjoying a great local breakfast.
Overall, this hotel may be suitable for travelers
who prioritize location over comfort, but those expecting a smoother and more modern stay might want to consider other options.
RR ToroBrilliant boutique hotel with truly kind and amazing staff. Only 15 rooms but the staff truly outsize the hotel in terms of what would wow me. They really make you feel very comfortable and safe. Great location to visit Kenrokuen!
