Each term concludes with a creative workshop led by Ambivalent Archives and a visiting artist. With over 600 modern and contemporary works by women artists, including renowned figures such as Mary Kelly, Maggi Hambling, and Lubaina Himid, this collection stands as the largest of its kind in Europe. The conference aims to deepen our understanding of the artists, artworks, and themes represented in this remarkable collection. Scholars have long explored the historical marginalization of women artists in relation to their male counterparts, as well as the complexities surrounding the "woman artist" label and the perpetuation of a male-centric art history. The acquisition of Mary Kelly's Extase in 1986 sparked the creation of the collection, with academics and staff at the College reaching out to living women artists in the UK, inviting them to donate works that could inspire future generations. In 2018, The Women's Art Collection was accredited by Arts Council England, solidifying its status as a prominent museum. The conference ticket includes lunch, a drinks reception, and refreshments throughout the day. Additionally, attendees have the option to book a formal dinner at Murray Edwards College for an additional fee.
