The Coyote Point Rifle and Pistol Club is offering the NRA Basic Range Safety Officer Class to help individuals fulfill the club's requirement for proof of current range safety officer certification. This class is open to both club members and qualified individuals who are not members of the club. By participating in this course, individuals will learn the essential duties and responsibilities of a Range Safety Officer, including range Standard Operating Procedures, safety briefings, emergency procedures, and firearm stoppage and malfunction handling. It is important to note that simply attending the class does not guarantee passing the course. In order to successfully complete the course, participants must actively engage in the entire class and score 90% or above on the written examination. Additionally, students must demonstrate the expected knowledge, skills, and attitude outlined in the NRA national curriculum. When attending the class, participants should come prepared with appropriate range clothing, pens, pencils, and paper for note-taking and form filling, as well as a packed lunch. Although there is no live fire during the class, it is recommended to bring hearing protection in case the range is being used by others. To receive credit for the course, participants' information, including name, address, phone number, email address, NRA membership number, date of birth, and gender, will be reported to the NRA. Therefore, it is important to register with the same name, address, and date of birth as listed on the NRA's records. Refunds are available if requested before the start of the class. The Coyote Point Rifle and Pistol Club is offering the NRA Chief Range Safety Officer Class to all members who need to fulfill the requirement of demonstrating proof of current range safety officer certification. This course goes beyond the club's requirement and certifies students to teach the basic RSO class once successfully completed. Please note that this class does not include the basic class, so students must either complete the basic RSO class prior to attending or provide proof of RSO certification via email. Attending the class in person for all days is highly recommended for a better understanding of the material and more effective presentations. The class will take place over two days: Day 1 on June 2nd will cover Basic Instructor Training, and Day 2 on June 8th will focus on Chief Range Safety Officer Training. Participants will learn the necessary knowledge, skills, and attitude required to perform the duties of a Range Safety Officer, including range procedures, safety briefings, inspections, emergency protocols, and firearm maintenance. To pass the course, students must participate fully, pass the written examination with a score of 90% or higher, and demonstrate the required knowledge and skills. Students are required to bring range appropriate clothing, writing materials, and a laptop or electronic device for viewing the presentation. They should also bring their NRA membership number and a packed lunch. Please note that the club is required to provide certain personal information to the NRA for class credit. Refunds are available if requested before the class starts.
