On Saturday, January 20, 2024, Skate Open Spaces is hosting an exciting public skate session at SportsHouse in Redwood City. This event, called Open Skate! Redwood City, invites skaters of all ages and abilities to enjoy a thrilling night on the roller rink. The four volleyball courts will be transformed into a skating paradise for the evening. Admission to Open Skate! Redwood City is $18 for general admission until Friday, January 19 at 11:59 pm. This includes rental skates and lessons to help you get started. On the day of the event, admission will be $23. For youth ages 12 and under, admission is $15 until Friday, January 19 at 11:59 pm, and $20 on the day of the event. Rental skates are available in a range of sizes, from 10 for little kids to 15 for adults. Please note that only roller skates are available for rent, no blades or inlines. However, if you have your own skates, feel free to bring them along. We love to see your skate setups, and roller blades/inlines are welcome! For those who are new to skating or need a refresher, we offer two beginner lessons to help you get rolling. Lesson #1 takes place from 7:15-7:45, and Lesson #2 is from 7:45-8:15. The Coyote Point Rifle and Pistol Club is offering the NRA Basic Range Safety Officer Class to help individuals meet the requirement of demonstrating proof of current range safety officer certification. This course is open to both club members and qualified non-members who are interested in managing the range safely. The class will cover a range of topics, including the role of Range Safety Officers, range Standard Operating Procedures, emergency procedures, and firearm stoppages and malfunctions. Participants must pass a written examination with a score of 90% or above and display the required knowledge, skills, and attitude as stated in the NRA national curriculum. Students are advised to bring range appropriate clothing, pens/pencil/paper for notes and forms, and a packed lunch. While the class does not involve live fire, it is conducted on an active range, so attendees should bring hearing protection. It's important to note that the NRA requires certain personal information, including name, address, phone number, email address, NRA membership number, date of birth, and gender, in order to credit participants for the class. Coyote Point Club members must provide their NRA membership number when signing up. Refunds are available if requested before the start of the class.
