Explore the library of poses that compose the choreography of hysteria, originally developed by Dr. Jean Martin Charcot and Paul Richer at the Salpêtrière asylum in 19th century Paris. In this workshop, participants will use a handheld 3D laser scanner to capture themselves and others, and learn how to manipulate the resulting 3D data using free and open source software. Attendees will leave with 3D files that can be incorporated into their artistic practices. Sophie Kahn, a digital artist and sculptor, will guide the workshop. Her work delves into the intricate nature of representing the human body in the digital era. Using a 3D laser scanner, Kahn creates sculptures, prints, videos, and digital artworks that challenge traditional notions of capturing the body in motion.
