2-Day Lu'an Escape: History & Mountain Majesty

Wanfo Lake Scenic Area is surrounded by Wanfo Lake, formerly known as Longhekou Reservoir, which is located 30 kilometers southwest of Shucheng County, about 80 kilometers from Hefei, and about 73 kilometers from Lu'an. The first purpose of going to Wanfo Lake is to see the lake view, the lake water is clear, and there are many small islands in the lake; the second is to see the water conservancy project. The Wanfo Lake Dam was built in 1960. It was built entirely by hand by the people during the three-year natural disaster. It is very remarkable. Wanfo Lake is not small, but the transportation is not convenient. You can drive by yourself and travel around the lake freely.

Wanfo Lake Dam is on the north bank of the lake. Tourists usually pass by here first. About 1 km east of the dam is Songdu Wharf, where you can take a Cruise. The Cruise have different types and different fees.

There are some islands in the lake where you can go to play, such as Yanzi Island, Zhouyu Island, Dragon King Island, etc. Of course, you need to take a boat to go to the island. The vegetation on the island is lush, and the man-made attractions on the island are relatively ordinary. If you don't take a boat, you can also take a walk on the shore.

There are some hotels with lake view rooms around Wanfo Lake, and some local restaurants on the way around the lake. It is recommended to taste the local delicacies in the hotels or restaurants - Wanfo Lake fish head, Wanfo Lake abalone, Wanfo Lake steamed fish, Wanfo Lake drunken shrimp, Wanfo Lake shrimp soup, which are known as the "five delicious flowers of Wanfo Lake". Among them, Wanfo Lake fish head is the most famous. Then order a pot of local famous tea "Shucheng Xiaolanhua Tea", don't mention how comfortable it is. Although the price of Dining in the Attraction is a bit expensive, the taste makes people feel that it is worth the money.

The advantage of self-driving is that if you are interested, you can also go to Tangchi Town, Shucheng County, Lu'an City, about 10 kilometers east of Sanjiang Wharf, to soak in hot springs. Because this Tangchi Town is west of Tangchi Town, Lujiang County, Hefei City, it is called "West Tangchi". Or drive to Wanfo Mountain, 64 kilometers southwest of Wanfo Lake, where the water of Wanfo Lake comes from. Wanfo Mountain is relatively remote, and the main peak, Laofoding, is 1,539 meters above sea level. If you want to play, you can stay at the foot of the mountain at night and spend a whole day climbing the mountain the next day.

The Great Rift Valley in Western Anhui is located 25 kilometers south of Lu'an City. It was originally named Biwangyan. It is said that it was named after Zhang Xianzhong, the leader of the peasant uprising army in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, fought here. Local people call it "Three Gates". The entire scenic area is shaped like three lotus roots. The most popular project is to climb through the canyon. The cliffs on both sides of the canyon are towering, and the narrow part can only allow one person to pass. Some places are simply vertical iron ladders. Climbing up is very challenging. In some places, you even have to step on the cliffs for leverage. There are water curtains falling from the top of the cliff. Although the canyon is not long, it is full of fun to climb. Each gate of the three gates has different scenery. The first gate has steep cliffs on the north and south, and the bottom of the valley is difficult to accommodate one foot. After exiting the first gate, there is a huge stone cave "Grotto Palace" on the south cliff; the second gate is narrower and more steep than the first gate. The cliffs on both sides form a "line of sky". Looking up, you can only see a few rays of sunlight shining into the valley. There is also a water curtain about 50 meters high in the gate; the third gate is three stories high, and you need to use your hands and feet to climb up. In addition, the scenic area also has attractions such as Dawangjing and Xiongqiyan (Dianjiangtai). Sandaozha belongs to the Great Rift Valley, that is, the experience area, which is a place where you need to walk through narrow rock wall gaps and climb. You can reach the top of the mountain to view the scenery through the Great Rift Valley, and then take another good mountain road to return. There are many tourists visiting the scenic area during holidays, which is more embarrassing than the crowds of ordinary attractions. Imagine a large group of people stuck in the narrow sky, unable to move left, right, front, and back. Therefore, it is recommended to choose to go on weekdays. Because climbing in the Great Rift Valley requires a certain amount of physical strength, children under 1.2 meters and people over 70 years old are prohibited from taking the Great Rift Valley Road (Experience Area). You can take the easy mountain road to the top of the mountain to see the scenery, and then return the same way.
