The location is super convenient, right in the city center. It's about a 10-minute walk to Zurich HB (main train station), and there's a supermarket and the Limmat River nearby. It's also very close to the Swiss National Museum, Bahnhofstrasse, and the Old Town, making getting around incredibly easy.
The room was clean and comfortable. We stayed in a renovated room in the north wing, so the facilities felt quite new. The bedding was very comfortable, and for European standards, the room size was quite spacious.FromUS$480

I came to Switzerland to enjoy the beautiful views, scenery and everything this amazing country has to offer, so I wasn’t expecting my hotel stay to become such a special part of the trip. ❤️🇨🇭
A big thank you to the Front Office team at Crowne Plaza Zurich for making my birthday so memorable. Even though I spent most of my time out exploring Switzerland, coming back to such a thoughtful birthday surprise made the day even more special.
A special thank you to Sophie, who noticed that it was my birthday and took the time to arrange everything. The flowers, chocolates, champagne and the beautiful room setup were such a lovely surprise. It was such a thoughtful gesture and honestly made me feel very special.

The hotel is very convinient and strategic. Located right next to the Zurich HB station and directly above the Polybanh train (a local attraction of a train to go up to the Zurich University). There's money changer, Starbucks and restaurants on the same stretch of building. Opposite the bridge there is a major hypermart Coop where can get affortable meals, mineral water and daily items. The reception staffs were all very friendly. I requested higher floor facing the train track and the staff reserved for me since I indicated on my booking. There is complementary hot water, tea or coffee available at the lobby. It is a MUST place to stay. Just a small note, if handling heavy luggage on your own, just walk towards behind the Starbucks, there is a door right after the Western Union. The entrance here is only 2 steps, compared to the main front which has more than 10 steps.FromUS$174

The room is great, and the staff are very friendly and helpful. BUT: upon check-in, I was asked to leave MY CREDIT CARD on file for the duration of my stay! This was despite the room already being paid for and charged to my credit card. Of course, I indignantly refused. Then I was asked to put down a 100€ deposit, which I equally firmly rejected (I didn't even have any Euros on me anyway... it was a spur-of-the-moment idea to be in Zurich!). The justification given was that I might raid the minibar without paying, but it was empty anyway. Mercifully, I was then allowed to check into my room without leaving any deposit.FromUS$313

The hotel's location is excellent, very close to the Swiss National Museum, and within walking distance of ETH Zurich, making it convenient to get anywhere. We arrived in Zurich from Interlaken earlier than scheduled, and the front desk kindly arranged a room for us before the official check-in time, which we greatly appreciated. The bar on the ground floor is very popular, and the breakfast offers a wide variety of dried fruits. There was a bottle of drinking water in the room, but we had to contact customer service to get slippers. Unfortunately, outside our window was a construction site with a building under construction, causing a lot of noise.FromUS$224

We loved our stay at the hotel wellenberg during our recent trip to Zurich, it was perfectly situated and a lovely spacious family room. The bathroom could use an update, which I’m sure is in the works, as one that I spotted by the elevator looked stunning! Our kids especially loved the family tv/gaming room and special mention must be made of the lovely front desk staff and Ruth at breakfast who was absolutely charming. The Adler is an excellent choice hotel in the heart of Old Zürich. As a global business traveller, I have stayed in over 100 hotels. This hotel offers the perfect location to see Zürich with a short 10 min walk from Zürich HB🚄 Train Station. The single room is sufficient, clean and well stocked with a kettle, coffee, tea, slippers and a gift cloth shopping bag. If you need extra complimentary beverages they are stocked in the fridge on the 1st floor stairwell. Checkin was fast, and you can pre-checkin on your email link. At the time of writing this, there was some city construction of the surrounding streets due to underground work. Hopefully this will be completed by early spring. Should your shoes get a little dirty, there is a shoe shine machine on the 2nd stairwell. The breakfast is a healthy Swiss style breakfast of fresh bread, croissants🥐, yogurts, fresh warm boiled eggs, cold cuts, smoked salmon❤️ , cheese, cereals, lots of fruits, milk, juice and an excellent coffee machine for the perfect creama coffee☕.
I had the opportunity to have cheese fondue in their restaurant and let me tell you, it is fantastic! Thank you and see you again! Regards from 🇨🇦 BFromUS$242

The hotel is modern and comfortable, and the rooms are spacious and very clean. It's well-connected to Zurich city center; you can reach it in about 10 minutes by tram or approximately 30 minutes on foot to the main station (Zürich HB). The area is quiet and safe, although the restaurant options nearby are limited, so it's better to head to the city center for more choices. Hotel is a 10 min walk from the bus station which connects to the train from the airport. The same bus station that takes to the central train station. It costs about 12CHF to 18CHF to or from train station. Hotel provides free rental bicycles which is very convenient. Facilities are OK. Room size is reasonable.
Be aware that the uncovered glass of the shower may not suitable for all if privacy is important. The room we stayed were extremely hot. While it is only 14°-18° outside, the room temperature is definitely 30°+. It made hard to wear the proper clothing to fit the temperature for the day. No aircon, the only way to cool the room down is to open the side window which leaves no wall from the room to outside of the building. Yes, the only barrier are a couple of metal bars between the desk against the window to outside the building from our ninth floor room. Plus the window can closed by itself, you need to reopen it multiple times if you want the cooler air for a little longer. It’s hard for a hot night sleep.
Breakfast is good and has good variety of the food and drinks. It costs 24CHF p.p. if it is pre-ordered.
If stays in the same room, no, it is not recommended to stay here. It may have other rooms that are not as hot as the one we stayed.FromUS$135

In general, the hotel offers a balance between fee, location, and service. The room is clean, the location is suitable for walking to all the sightseeing places in Zurich. However, it is noteworthy that the bathroom and the toilet are not inside the room, you must go to separate places. This is not mentioned when I place the booking, or I didn’t pay attention to this detail. I travelled during the not-busy season so it is OK, most of the time when I wanted to use the bathroom, it was available. However, during the travel seasons, you should be aware.FromUS$157

However, if you're feeling adventurous and want to try your hand at bargaining, you might find some room for negotiation in flea markets or antique shops.
So, whether you're looking for a pocket-sized Swiss army knife or a luxurious Swiss watch, be prepared to shell out some Swiss francs. Remember, the cost of souvenirs in Switzerland can be as diverse as the country itself. Happy shopping!
Methods to Save Money When Traveling to Switzerland
Planning a trip to Switzerland can be an exciting adventure, but it's no secret that it can also be quite expensive. However, with a little bit of research and some smart strategies, you can make your dream vacation to this picturesque country more affordable. Here are some tried and tested methods to save money when traveling to Switzerland.

First and foremost, consider traveling during the shoulder seasons. Switzerland is known for its stunning landscapes, regardless of the time of year. By avoiding the peak tourist season, you can not only enjoy fewer crowds but also benefit from lower prices on accommodation and attractions. Plus, you'll have the added advantage of experiencing the country's natural beauty in a more serene and intimate setting.
Another great way to save money is by opting for public transportation. Switzerland boasts an efficient and extensive network of trains, buses, and trams that can take you to almost every corner of the country. Investing in a Swiss Travel Pass can provide unlimited access to these modes of transportation, allowing you to explore the country at your own pace without breaking the bank.
When it comes to accommodation, consider staying in budget-friendly options such as hostels or guesthouses. These establishments not only offer affordable rates but also provide an opportunity to connect with fellow travelers from around the world. Additionally, booking your stay in advance and comparing prices across different platforms can help you find the best deals and save a significant amount of money.
Furthermore, dining out in Switzerland can be quite expensive, especially in popular tourist areas. To save money on food, consider exploring local markets and grocery stores where you can purchase fresh produce, snacks, and even ready-to-eat meals. Not only will this help you stick to your budget, but it will also give you a chance to taste authentic Swiss flavors.
Lastly, take advantage of the numerous free or discounted attractions and activities available in Switzerland. From hiking trails and scenic viewpoints to museums and cultural events, there are plenty of options to explore without spending a fortune. Researching and planning your itinerary in advance can help you make the most of these opportunities and ensure a memorable trip without breaking the bank.
By implementing these methods and being mindful of your expenses, you can enjoy a remarkable trip to Switzerland without worrying about the high costs typically associated with it. So, pack your bags, embrace the adventure, and get ready to create unforgettable memories in this enchanting Alpine paradise.
