I had a great experience staying at the Grand Metro Hotel in Hangzhou. From check-in to check-out, everything was smooth and pleasant. The staff were courteous, attentive, and always ready to help, which made me feel genuinely welcomed. The room was clean, spacious, and well-appointed, with all the amenities I needed for a comfortable stay. The bed was very comfortable, and the housekeeping was consistently excellent. I also appreciated the quiet environment, which made it easy to relax after a long day. The hotel’s location is convenient—close to major attractions, and a decent massage place just across the road. Breakfast offered a great variety, with both local and international options. Everything was fresh and delicious. Overall, I recommend the Grand Metro Hotel. It’s a well-run property with good service and great value for money. I look forward to staying here again on my next trip to Hangzhou.From€35

Hello everyone I had a wonderful time here with my family. The location is fantastic . It's right next to the beautiful lake . They even have a huge roof top area where you can see a few temples from and on a night they're lit up. There's a robot room service which is cool. The breakfast has a lot of options even for vegetarians. The rooms were super clean and spacious. There was a concierge called jeef who was very polite. He didn't speak English but he helped very well. The bar staff were friendly and easy to talk too. I would stay here againFrom€82

Our stay was absolutely perfect! After settling in, I couldn't help but praise everything about Zhejiang Hotel, especially considering its excellent value for money. It's truly the best choice for accommodation in Hangzhou. Our experience was comfortable, cozy, convenient, simple, and relaxing. Here are some standout points:
First, the power strip in the room was incredibly handy – no worries if you forget your charging cable!
Second, the bathroom had a great wet/dry separation, and the door opening inwards smartly allowed for easy use of the bathmat.
Third, the self-service restaurant on the top floor features an observation deck with stunning, direct views of West Lake – perfect for photos. This location is truly unique!
Fourth, the hotel offers self-service amenities like microwaves on the fourth floor (shared with other hotels in the building), which is super convenient for guests with specific needs.
Fifth, the hotel provides every service a guest could ask for, offering so many benefits.
Sixth, the location is incredibly prime, yet surprisingly quiet and peaceful at night – truly excellent.
Well, words can't fully express how pleased I am. I want to commend Zhejiang Hotel once again and hope they continue to maintain their high standard of service. Thank you!From€51

The Marco Polo brand speaks for itself; we frequently stayed at Marco Polo hotels during business trips to Shenzhen, as they were our preferred corporate hotels, and we always had a comfortable stay. This Marco Polo is no exception. Although it's a bit older, the facilities and amenities are still great, and even the shampoo and shower gel are branded. My only complaint is about the front desk service. We arrived quite late on the night of check-in, and there were two male staff members on duty. We couldn't get any of our requests fulfilled. We wanted to change rooms because we were traveling with elderly people and children. If the hotel is fully booked, just say so directly and politely. Instead, one of the male front desk agents took over from the one checking me in and repeatedly emphasized that I booked a promotional rate room, and therefore couldn't change or cancel it. He said ”you booked a special rate room” several times. What's with the disdain for guests who book special rates? Do guests who book special rates deserve to be treated differently? If so, then don't offer such packages. I even mentioned that our company has a corporate agreement with the hotel and that I'm a frequent guest, but he just dismissed it, saying it was irrelevant. It left a really bad taste in my mouth. While the hotel itself is good, I have to give a bad rating to the service provided by your male front desk staff.From€25

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Merchant Marco Hotel in Hangzhou and would happily stay here again.
The location is excellent, within easy reach of West Lake, the metro and plenty of food options. In fact, I could even spot the hotel from Bai Causeway while walking around the lake.
The hotel itself has a wonderful Marco Polo theme which gives it a bit of character. There is a statue of Marco Polo in the foyer, artwork and statues in the rooms, a common area with information about his travels, and even the elevators, restaurant and viewing area on the top floor continue the theme. It was a nice touch and made the hotel memorable.
The room was spacious and comfortable, with a comfy bed and everything I needed. The reception staff were friendly and professional. One receptionist in particular had a remarkable memory, a lovely smile and made guests feel welcome while remaining thoroughly professional.
One unexpected highlight was the free laundry. The self regulating washer and dryer actually worked as advertised, sensing the load and adjusting the cycle times accurately. The wash took around 36 minutes and the dryer 38 minutes, the first time I've encountered machines that genuinely got it right.
Overall, this was one of my favourite hotels of my trip to China with a great location, plenty of character, practical facilities and friendly service. Highly recommended.From€44

Currently, Grand Hyatt has promotions. I believe there's a difference between the 1500 and 3000 room types. The staff, knowing I write reviews, were very kind and upgraded me to a room on the side with a view of West Lake. However, this room had a very strong fishy smell. Although Ctrip booked it through a third party and the room rate was cheap, there were still some shortcomings. It clearly included breakfast, but it wasn't shown, and I had a long discussion with the front desk. The hotel service is excellent, and they handle problems promptly. It's just the room smell – a definite con. I hope they improve it; it was very irritating to the nose. Breakfast was decent, but when it's busy, the staff can be a bit disorganized and need further training.From€197

The standard room was a bit small and didn't have a bathtub, so they upgraded us to a king-size room. The location and surrounding environment were absolutely fantastic and super convenient. The swimming pool was also very welcoming. They gave us a 100-yuan discount voucher for purchases over 300 yuan, but it couldn't be used for the 358-yuan couple's set meal. This hotel, steeped in history, beautifully preserves its unique old-world charm and heritage. The staff are professional, well-trained, and quick to respond. Although it's located right in the heart of West Lake, the entire property is incredibly quiet, comfortable, and elegant. While the facilities are a bit dated, this doesn't detract from the overall usability or the pleasant stay experience. Hygiene: I always bring my own disposable bed sheets, duvet covers, and towels when I travel, and never use the hotel's. But this hotel is truly clean! Not a single stain! The room is very spacious! I booked the parent-child room, which is the only one in the entire hotel. My kids loved it!
Service: We checked in around 4 PM on the 23rd. The front desk lady was professional, efficient, and quick! She patiently answered all our questions! We had three kids with us 👶🏻 and she even gave them horse 🐴 gifts. It was our first time in Hangzhou, and she also told us about the best places to visit, which we really appreciate 🙏🏻.
Facilities: The bathroom is huge, with a separate wet and dry area and a bathtub 🛁. They provided disposable bath liners, and the key thing is, it's really clean! Absolutely no odor!
Service: Every staff member we encountered here was kind and polite! They were very responsible and dedicated in answering our questions.
The robot delivering food is adorable, though its voice is a bit low, the kids really enjoyed it.
The location is excellent! A hotel right by the Qiantang River, you can enjoy the night view and the light show from your room! Hangzhou's light show is magnificent and breathtaking! It only takes about twenty minutes to get to both the airport and West Lake. Very convenient!
Environment: The breakfast on the 40th floor is very rich. I recommend the mini wontons, mixed noodles, and small steamed buns. You can enjoy the beautiful Hangzhou scenery while having breakfast on the 40th floor! In the evening, you can also go to the sky bar on the 41st floor for drinks and enjoy the night view! The ambiance is fantastic! My favorite is the infinity pool! It's so beautiful! I will definitely stay here again next time! We didn't get enough fun this time, so we'll come back again in August.From€50

Overall stay was nice in the hotel. Rooms were clean and spacious. Breakfast had many western and Chinese options, which were good. Our package included indoor hot-spring experience which was suitable considering the cold weather outside.
Only disappointment was 'Nausicaa of the Wind Tour Ticket' which was included in the package while booking from trip.com. In trip.com under package details it was mentioned that it was a scenic stop/park and we thought entry to that place is free but additional rides are payable. This information was absolutely misleading as after wasting lot of time, the information we received (after calling the provided contact number, talking with Hotel staff) was 'Nausicaa of the Wind Tour Ticket' was not located in or nearby the hotel but was in a totally far-off place. No clear information was provided by calling the contact number on how to use the offer as mentioned in trip.com booked package description.
Either trip.com should remove that offer or provide a clear description about the location of that place, with pictures if possible, otherwise people will feel lucrative about the offer and go for the booking which actually is misleading.From€82

Love the spacious room and comfortable beds/beddings for three adults, quiet location (but there's a metro station nearby and didis are easily available) and mountain view outside. Double-glass windows cut out the traffic noise completely. Very good breakfast, and you can ask for hamburger too. During my recent trip back to China to visit family, I decided to spend a few days in Hangzhou. When choosing a hotel, I was initially drawn to the West Lake醋鱼 (vinegar fish) at Ziwei Hall. Online reviews claimed it was the best in Hangzhou, and after tasting it, I can confirm it was absolutely exceptional. For convenience, I booked a stay at this hotel. Upon arrival, I was quite early and didn't expect to be able to check in immediately (the hotel's policy is 2 PM). To my surprise, not only was I able to check in right away, but I also received a complimentary upgrade to a lake-view room!
The next day, we booked the hotel's lake tour, which was another wonderful surprise. The boat, which normally accommodates ten people, was exclusively for my husband and me that day. The thoughtfully prepared fruit tea and snacks, along with the luxurious and comfortable environment, were fantastic. What particularly touched us was the attentive service from the young man on the boat.
As someone who lives abroad long-term, I tend to be quite discerning about my surroundings and service. However, my stay at this state guesthouse (GuobinGuan) truly lived up to its name in every aspect – from the service and visual aesthetics to the overall comfort, the courtyard design, and the interior decor and color scheme. It truly allowed us travelers to relax and enjoy ourselves, both physically and mentally.
The only minor drawback was the lack of a proper wardrobe. While there was enough space to hang clothes, there wasn't a closed cabinet for smaller, loose items.
Overall, the state guesthouse provided us with a fantastic experience. Thank you! ☺️From€155

West Lake, Lingyin Temple Scenic Area Hangzhou|3.65km from city center
This hotel's pricing is pretty much at the top tier for Hangzhou, which naturally sets very high expectations and makes one a bit more critical. With that discerning eye, here's my take:
1. **Room Appearance**: The photos online made the rooms look incredibly luxurious. In reality, while slightly dated, the rooms are still quite good overall.
2. **Breakfast**: The restaurant doesn't have many seats. The breakfast is decent, but nothing particularly memorable or outstanding; just good for a five-star hotel.
3. **Scenery**: I had imagined a meticulously designed landscape with beautiful views from every window. However, some room types offer views of a white wall. Outside, there's a small harbor area you can walk around, which has a certain rustic charm. The hotel's layout is quite confusing, and it's easy to get lost; walking from the guest rooms to Jin Sha Restaurant feels like a long journey.
4. **Jin Sha Restaurant**: I booked this hotel specifically because of this restaurant, and I was quite satisfied. The ambiance is absolutely beautiful. The food was delicious (though the next day I had a private room at Green Tea, a restaurant next to the hotel, for a tenth of the price, and I was blown away... perhaps my high standards were due to the exorbitant cost).
5. **Service**: Finally, to the service. The lobby manager and staff present were excellent. Despite being busy, they attended to everyone. Specifically, when I added a room on the spot and complained to the lobby about the reservations department, they actively helped me secure some discounts and offered a welcome gift. This was very much appreciated; I felt valued rather than just another humble customer. On the other hand, I have to mention the rather 'lofty' reservations department. Perhaps they don't lack VIP clients, but despite my repeated requests for a small discount when booking multiple room nights, I was consistently denied. Their quote was even higher than online platforms, and when asked, they claimed no discounts or complimentary gifts were available (which, as proven, was not entirely true). What exactly is the reservations department for? It felt like despite paying a lot, I was still the humble party in the transaction. I hope the hotel considers that sometimes, small complimentary gifts and minor discounts, along with a positive emotional experience, can really attract and retain customers.From€604

From the pickup to check-in, everything was thoughtful and well-executed. The breakfast tasted great and was beautifully presented. The steamed dishes restaurant is a matter of personal preference, I suppose. The in-room fruit was replenished daily, which was a nice touch, but honestly, the presentation could be improved. The variety, color combination, and arrangement of the welcome fruit didn't quite match the hotel's positioning. Even compared to other star-rated hotels, or even business hotels, the aesthetic quality in this regard is often superior. So, the fruit platter felt more like an afterthought than a highlight; perhaps not including it at all would have avoided this slight imperfection. As for the spa service, it was actually very good, but the overall experience lacked any standout features and wasn't superior to other top-tier luxury brands. It didn't offer good value for money and felt somewhat underwhelming. The entire ancient village environment is exceptionally quiet and rustic, and the guest room ambiance was spot on. The room fragrance was lovely and incredibly soothing. The housekeeping staff were also very attentive, and the turndown service was excellent. The environment is peaceful and undisturbed, and when needed, the staff's discreet thoughtfulness was truly heartwarming. The Fuyunshe sachet-making activity was interesting and meaningful. My experience with the lake-view room this time was just okay; I could only see an unknown small lake from afar, and the view was nothing special. I asked the front desk to switch to a river-view room, but they said the hotel was fully booked due to Jolin Tsai's concert. They also suggested upgrading to a suite, but I didn't take it as the suite's view was also described as mediocre. As an older five-star hotel, it's not new, but first and foremost, the cleanliness was acceptable. However, the service was truly indescribable. Even though there were three check-in desks, all occupied, and I was next in line, I still had to wait over 10 minutes… For our two rooms, we saw the same cleaning staff three times, and she knew which two rooms were ours. After checking out, I realized I'd left a bag of drinks and went back to retrieve them. I saw the cleaning staff tidying up and just went straight in. She then said I needed to call someone specific to open the door. I agreed but asked her to be quick. After waiting 10 minutes, no one had arrived. I asked her to just open it, but she refused, citing property safety, and also claimed her card couldn't open my door? Isn't that ridiculous? I'd already checked out; wasn't she supposed to clean it? What property could I possibly have after checking out? What should have taken a minute ended up delaying us by 20 minutes, completely disrupting our subsequent plans.From€86
