Shanghai Disneyland crowd levels correlate with local hotel prices and Disney Premier Access availability. Weekdays, specifically Tuesdays and Wednesdays, offer the shortest wait times, while national holidays and weekends consistently reach capacity. Use the official app to monitor real-time queues and buy passes early to manage busy days.

How to Check Wait Times on the Official App (Step-by-Step)

How to Check Wait Times on the Official App (Step-by-Step)

You don’t need a park ticket to check live wait times—you can do it from anywhere, which is useful for getting a sense of crowd patterns before your trip.

  • Download the Shanghai Disney Resort app from the iOS App Store or Android app stores. You may need to switch your store region to China to find it.
  • Open the app and sign in with a phone number or email. A Chinese phone number is not required for basic wait time viewing.
  • On the home screen, open the interactive park map or tap the Attractions tab.
How to Check Wait Times on the Official App (Step-by-Step)
  • Current standby wait times will appear next to every ride on the map. You can filter by themed land or ride type to narrow down the list.
  • Tap the list view icon for a sorted view of all attractions, from shortest wait to longest.
  • Refresh every 10–15 minutes while in the park—wait times update regularly based on actual queue length.

You can also use the same app to buy Disney Premier Access, claim free Standby Passes when available, check parade and show times, and view restaurant wait times.

Other Shanghai Disneyland Crowd Indicators

Other Shanghai Disneyland Crowd Indicators

Other Shanghai Disneyland Crowd Indicators, AIGC

1. Surrounding hotel prices

This is one of the most underrated signals I’ve picked up from other regular visitors. Hotels near Shanghai Disneyland—especially the two official resort hotels and the cluster of budget and mid-range properties within a 10-minute drive—adjust their prices dynamically based on demand.

If you check hotel rates for your target date and they’re 30–50% higher than nearby weekdays, that’s a strong indicator of a busy park day. When demand is high, hotels raise prices, and that same demand translates to bigger crowds at the gates. I’ve used this trick a few times when planning last-minute trips, and it’s been surprisingly consistent.

2. Early Entry Pass and Premier Access availability

Shanghai Disneyland sells two paid upgrades that act as pretty reliable crowd barometers: the Early Park Entry Pass (which lets you enter up to an hour early) and Disney Premier Access (the paid skip-the-line passes, often called DPA).

Both sell out faster on busier days. If you check the official app 2–3 days before your trip and Early Entry passes are already gone, or if single-ride Premier Access options are selling out quickly on the day, you know crowds will be heavy. On truly packed days, Premier Access for top rides like TRON and Zootopia can sell out within the first hour of park opening. On quieter weekdays, you can usually still buy them in the afternoon.

3. Live wait times from previous weeks

While not a perfect forecast, checking wait time patterns from the past 1–2 weeks can give you a decent sense of what to expect. If every Saturday for the past month has seen 120+ minute waits for Soaring Over the Horizon, next Saturday will probably be similar.

I wouldn’t rely on data from several months ago, though. Seasonal events, school holidays, and promotions change attendance patterns a lot, so recent data is much more useful.

Why Last Year’s Forecasts Are Often Wrong

A lot of third-party crowd calendars base their predictions on data from the previous year, and in my experience, this is where most forecasts fall apart.

Shanghai Disneyland’s attendance shifts quite a bit year over year. New lands or attractions open, holiday schedules change, domestic travel trends shift, and special events draw different crowds. A date that was quiet last year might be packed this year if a new ride opened, and vice versa.

Forecasts made more than 1–2 weeks out are especially unreliable. I’ve shown up on days that were labeled “light crowd” on old calendars only to find weekend-level lines. The closer you get to your travel date, the more accurate any prediction becomes—but by then, you’ve already booked your trip.

Shanghai Disneyland Month-by-Month Crowd Forecast Calendar

Shanghai Disneyland Month-by-Month Crowd Forecast Calendar

Below is the general crowd pattern I’ve observed across the year, based on multiple visits and tracking wait time trends. Density levels are relative to Shanghai Disneyland standards—even “low” crowd days will still have lines for the most popular rides.

Month

Crowd Density Level

Dates to Avoid

Recommended Dates & Notes

January

Low – Moderate

Chinese New Year golden week (usually late Jan / early Feb)

Mid-January to late January weekdays. Cold weather keeps casual visitors away; wait times are among the shortest all year.

February

Moderate – High

Chinese New Year holiday period

Late February weekdays, after the holiday ends. The week around Lunar New Year is one of the busiest periods of the year.

March

Moderate

Late March school break weekends

Early to mid-March Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Mild spring weather; special anniversary events may bump up weekend crowds slightly.

April

Moderate

Qingming Festival 3-day holiday

Mid-April weekdays. One of the best months for balance between pleasant weather and manageable crowds.

May

High

Labor Day golden week (early May)

Late May weekdays. The Labor Day holiday brings a sharp spike in attendance; wait times double or triple during that week.

June

Moderate – High

Dragon Boat Festival holiday

Mid-June weekdays. Plum rain season brings frequent rain, which thins crowds but may temporarily close outdoor rides.

July

Very High

— (entire month is peak)

No ideal dates; if you must go, choose weekdays. Summer vacation brings heavy family crowds; heat and humidity are also high.

August

Very High

First three weeks of August

Last 3–4 days of August, right before school reopens. Crowds ease slightly at the very end of the month.

September

Moderate

Mid-Autumn Festival holiday

Early to mid-September weekdays. Post-summer lull with comfortable weather; one of the quietest warm months.

October

Very High

National Day golden week (Oct 1–7)

Late October weekdays. Golden Week is the single busiest week of the year. Halloween events also draw extra weekend visitors.

November

Low – Moderate

No major national holidays

Mid to late November weekdays. Cool weather and low tourist numbers make this an underrated time to visit.

December

Moderate – High

Christmas and New Year weekends

Early December weekdays. Christmas events boost weekend crowds, but cold weekdays remain relatively quiet.

Shanghai Disneyland General Crowd Patterns

While no forecast is perfect, there are consistent patterns that hold true most of the time.

By day of the week

  • Weekdays (Monday–Thursday): Generally the least crowded, though still busy by many standards. Tuesdays and Wednesdays tend to be slightly quieter than Mondays and Thursdays.
  • Fridays: Busier than weekdays but not as bad as weekends. A lot of local visitors come for evening shows and half-day visits.
  • Saturdays and Sundays: Consistently the busiest days of the week. Saturdays are usually slightly more packed than Sundays, but both are busy enough that I always recommend Premier Access if you’re visiting on a weekend.

By time of day

  • First hour after opening: The least crowded period of the day, especially if you have Early Entry. This is when you can knock out 2–3 top rides with minimal waiting.
  • 11 AM – 4 PM: Peak crowd hours. Wait times are at their longest, and the park feels most crowded.
  • Parade and evening show times: Many guests gather for parades and fireworks, so wait times for popular rides can drop temporarily during these windows.
  • Last 1–2 hours before closing: Wait times often fall again, especially for attractions that aren’t near the main exit.

Weather impact

Rain does tend to thin out crowds, especially light to moderate rain. A lot of casual day-trippers stay home, and some outdoor rides may have shorter lines. The tradeoff is that some outdoor attractions may close temporarily during heavy rain or thunderstorms, so it’s not a free win.

I’ve had surprisingly good days on drizzly weekdays, but I’d never plan a trip around hoping for rain—it’s too much of a gamble.

Holidays to definitely avoid

This is the most reliable rule of all. Major Chinese national holidays guarantee extreme crowds:

  • National Day Golden Week (first week of October)
  • Labor Day holiday (early May)
  • Chinese New Year / Spring Festival (January or February)

During these periods, the park hits capacity, tickets sell out in advance, and wait times are the longest you’ll see all year. If you can reschedule, do it. If you absolutely must go during a holiday, buy Premier Access well in advance and expect a long day.

Shanghai Disneyland Popular Rides: Best Times to Visit & One-Day Route

Shanghai Disneyland Popular Rides: Best Times to Visit & One-Day Route

After enough trips, you learn which rides have predictable wait patterns and when you can squeeze them in with minimal line time. Here are the six most popular attractions and the best times to ride them, from my experience.

Best times for top rides

  • TRON Lightcycle Power Run: First 30 minutes after park opening, or the last hour before closing. Wait times peak between 11 AM and 3 PM and often stay above 90 minutes all afternoon.
  • Pirates of the Caribbean: Battle for the Sunken Treasure: Surprisingly manageable at midday (12 PM – 2 PM), when most guests are at lunch or watching parades. Also very short right at opening.
  • Soaring Over the Horizon: Ride it during Early Entry or the first hour of regular opening. Wait times climb very quickly and stay high for the rest of the day.
  • Zootopia: Hot Pursuit: First hour of the day, or during the evening fireworks show. It’s the newest major land, so demand stays high all day.
  • Seven Dwarfs Mine Train: Late afternoon (4 PM – 6 PM) or during the daytime parade. The single rider line also cuts wait times roughly in half if you don’t mind riding separately.
  • Rex’s Racer: Avoid midday entirely. Best in the first hour of operation or after 7 PM.

Sample efficient one-day route (moderate crowd day)

  1. Arrive 30–45 minutes before opening and head straight to TRON Lightcycle Power Run.
  2. Walk next to Zootopia: Hot Pursuit before the line builds.
  3. Move to Adventure Isle for Soaring Over the Horizon.
  4. Stop for an early lunch at Barbossa’s Bounty around 11:30 AM to beat the lunch rush.
  5. Ride Pirates of the Caribbean right after lunch.
  6. Head to Fantasyland for Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh in the early afternoon.
  7. Use the 3 PM parade window to hit Rex’s Racer and Slinky Dog Spin in Toy Story Land.
  8. Use the last two hours before closing to re-ride favorites or catch anything you missed.
  9. End the night with the castle fireworks show.

Practical Tips for a Less Stressful Visit to Shanghai Disneyland

Consider an annual pass for longer trips

If you’re planning to visit 4 or more days over a 12-month period, a Shanghai Disneyland annual pass usually pays for itself. There are three tiers:

  • Diamond Annual Pass: Unlimited entry 365 days a year, plus 20% off dining and parking, free early entry passes, and exclusive events. Best for frequent visitors.
  • Jade Annual Pass: Around 330 available days per year, with blockouts only on the busiest holidays. Includes 20% off most dining and stores.
  • Pearl Annual Pass: Around 210 available days, with most weekends and holidays blocked out. The lowest price point, good for weekday-only visitors.

All tiers come with dining and merchandise discounts that add up quickly if you eat or shop in the park regularly. All info subject to change, please check the latest info on booking page.

Take a slow, relaxed approach instead of one full day

I used to try to cram everything into a single 12-hour park day, and I’d leave exhausted. If you’re staying in Shanghai for a week or two, book a hotel near the resort and visit for 4–6 hours per day instead. Sleep in, go in the afternoon, take long breaks, and leave when you feel tired. It’s way more enjoyable than forcing yourself to stay from open to close.

Treasure Cove has some of the best quiet spots in the park. Barbossa’s Bounty has large, air-conditioned indoor seating areas where you can sit and rest, or even get some light work done if you need to. There are also shaded benches near the Pirates of the Caribbean exit with much less foot traffic than the main paths.

Other small tips that make a big difference

  • Bring a portable charger. The official app drains battery quickly when you refresh wait times all day.
  • Use the free Standby Pass feature in the app when it’s active. It lets you reserve a return time for select attractions so you don’t have to stand in the full line.
  • If you’re okay with riding alone, single rider lines save a huge amount of time on Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and a few other rides.
  • Buy Premier Access 1–2 days in advance if you’re visiting on a weekend or holiday. The most popular sets often sell out before the park even opens.

My Honest Final Advice for Shanghai Disneyland

After trying to predict crowds so many times, here’s what I’ve settled on:

No forecast is 100% accurate, especially weeks in advance. You can get a general sense of whether a day will be quiet, moderate, or busy, but you won’t know exact wait times until you’re there.

If minimizing lines matters to you more than saving money, just buy Premier Access for the rides you care about most. It removes the guesswork entirely. On busy days it’s essential, and on quieter days it still lets you fit more into your day. For most visitors, it’s worth the cost.

Combine that with arriving early, using the official app to adjust your plan throughout the day, and avoiding major holidays, and you’ll have a much better experience than trying to chase the perfect “empty park” day that rarely exists at Shanghai Disneyland.

The location is excellent, right on Nanjing Road. There's a revolving restaurant upstairs and a shopping mall on the lower floors, making dining very convenient. Oliver, who assisted us, was incredibly nice and attentive, providing a five-star service throughout our stay. Most of the guests were international tour groups. The only downside is that the rooms are a bit old, and some have average views. It would be better to choose a room type carefully when checking in at Radisson Blu Hotel Shanghai New World.

The hotel has a beautiful, luxurious atmosphere, with excellent facilities including a very well-equipped gym and separate men’s and women’s sauna and steam rooms as well as a pool and hot tub. There is also an onsite spa opened till 2am! The ‘This Works’ bathroom toiletries in the rooms were a lovely touch and smelled wonderful. Breakfast was outstanding, with an impressive selection and freshly prepared omelettes, steamed buns and pancakes. The English-speaking staff were also incredibly helpful throughout our stay and provided great recommendations of places to see and where to eat close by. Jing'an District/West Nanjing Road Shanghai|0.85km from city center
My friend was only staying in Shanghai for a day, so naturally, I wanted to give her an itinerary that offered both 'old-world charm and new-age chic.' While passing Nanjing West Road recently, this InterContinental 'Luxury Collection' hotel immediately caught my eye. And just as I expected, critical as she is, she complimented my taste the moment she walked in. Its most appealing features are its convenient location and its ability to be a tranquil oasis amidst the bustle: step outside, and you're on the vibrant Nanjing Road; turn around, and you're in the quiet serenity of a residential area. My friend said the elevator decor instantly made her feel like she'd 'traveled through time,' and that unique 'Haitian style' evoked long-lost memories of Shanghai. She had originally come to sightsee but happily spent most of her day lingering at the hotel. What she loved most were the terrace and the restaurant. On a summer evening, the breeze felt just like those childhood nights spent cooling off in the alleyways – she used to live in a Shikumen house. She remarked, 'If only I could lie in a wicker chair, fan myself with a palm-leaf fan, eat watermelon, and watch an outdoor movie, that would be truly divine.' She also adored the red hanging ornament in the lobby; it was vibrantly bright, yet its glass texture gave it a lively feel, much like Shanghai's character – passionate yet steady, with a touch of lightness within its composure. The food did not disappoint either. I pushed her to try the Shiqipu Noodle Restaurant, where the owner asked in Shanghainese, 'Mi dao ai hao fa?' (Is the taste good?), and she smiled and replied, 'Authentic,' instantly tearing up. She specifically bought the sweet variety of butterfly pastries from the International Hotel – saying 'only sweet is truly Shanghai.' Her only regret was: having stayed in too many foreign-style grand hotels, this time, with Shanghai elements everywhere and Shanghai flavors in every bite, it was 'just missing the sound of Shanghai.' Perhaps the cicada chirps in the alleyways and the hawkers' cries from the Shikumen are the hometown sounds she truly yearns to hear. However, she has already declared: the next time she returns, this will be her chosen hotel, and she plans to visit all the routes I arranged. I believe the charm of Shanghai has never been in its superficial glamour but in its ability to always find the most fitting way to blend East and West, ancient and modern, living as a unique 'Haipai' (Shanghai style). This is also the root that every Shanghainese person cherishes. Below are the three half-day itinerary options I created for her, which I've also compiled here, hoping they might help someone else: Option 1 · A Stroll Through Old Shanghai Charm Start from the hotel's main entrance on Fengyang Road and turn into Huanghe Road. The Changjiang Building and Changjiang Theater were the last residences of Eileen Chang; Huanghe Road is the origin of 'Blossoms Shanghai' (Fan Hua). The International Hotel is where her mother and aunt once stayed; next to it, the Sports Museum is rumored to be where Eileen Chang used to study. Diagonally opposite is the History Museum (formerly the Racecourse); the East Wing houses the old bronze lions from the HSBC Building on the Bund, and the 'Echoes of Shanghai' exhibition in the West Wing happens to talk about the past of Fengyang Road. The ornate windows of the West Wing and the Changjiang Building, mirroring the hotel's architecture, perfectly showcase the most fashionable Art Deco style of the 1930s. Option 2 · Tracing Red Memories Walk along Chengdu North Road to the Secretariat of the China Labor Movement, to see how Shanghai workers united into a revolutionary force; then visit the former site of the Songpu Special Committee. Go to the Sihang Warehouse to hear the echoes of the Battle of Shanghai and see the bullet-riddled walls recount the tragedy of that year. At night, turn into Xiang Kang Li on Xinchang Road to find the former site of the CCP Central Committee's secret printing press; on Nanjing West Road, there is also the former site of the Soviet Liaison Office, where, amidst the flickering lights, memories of the past reside. Option 3 · Modern and Retro Collision The LV 'Big Boat' on Nanjing West Road is currently a popular spot for photos; after visiting, turn into Wujiang Road for shopping and dining, and further ahead is Zhangyuan Shikumen – where new trends emerge in old alleyways, perfect for capturing stunning photos. Food Tips · The hotel restaurant's afternoon tea set is exquisite and picture-perfect. · Shiqipu Noodle Restaurant (the owner's Shanghainese is a living signboard). · Deda Western Restaurant and Gongdelin Noodle Restaurant, each with its own charm. · Donghai Small Restaurant (authentic Ningbo cuisine). · Chongming cuisine on the second floor of the hotel, authentic local flavors. · International Hotel butterfly pastries, remember to choose the sweet ones. Though the day was short, the essence of Shanghai will give her much to savor. When she returns next time, we'll continue our journey.

The hotel was very nice. The breakfast buffet had a mix of western food and Chinese food. The only improvement I would suggest is a more powerful toaster, but that obviously isn’t a deal breaker. Facilities: This is an old-school five-star hotel. While the style has a bit of history to it, everything is impeccably clean. It truly showcases the quality of a five-star hotel and makes you feel at ease. Hygiene: Nothing to complain about, absolutely excellent! Spotless. Environment: Many foreigners stay here, making it feel like you're abroad. Of course, Shanghai is indeed an international metropolis, and you see a lot of foreigners on the streets. Service: I have to complain about the hotel's breakfast, specifically the noodle and wonton station right at the entrance. You're a five-star hotel, after all. Yet, the wontons and noodles are pre-cooked. If you want some, they just roll them around in the broth, which is incredibly perfunctory. They taste mushy. It really cheapens the experience. They even give you a tag and tell you to pick it up after three minutes. Does it really take three minutes to swish something in a pot? It's out in 20 seconds, tops. However, the egg pancakes are made fresh! An egg pancake requires tomatoes, onions, minced meat, mixing, spreading, rolling, and plating – wow, that sounds like a lot of work, right? But they make each one fresh, and you have to wait for it. If no one orders, they just leave the pan empty! You guys are truly dedicated! Perhaps wontons and Chinese noodles just don't 'agree' with hotel settings, and they have to be pre-cooked. That's a tough pill to swallow.

The hotel's location is excellent, right next to Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street. It's only a 15-20 minute walk to the Bund. This time I stayed in an executive room which included breakfast and access to the executive lounge. The breakfast spread was very generous with a wide variety of choices, and the food tasted good too. The only downside was that the room showed clear signs of wear and tear, with dark stains around the bathtub. This is my second time staying at this hotel. I booked an executive twin room with my child. The room was clean, and its location right in the heart of Jing'an Temple makes dining and taking the subway incredibly convenient. I first booked it because of its proximity to Eileen Chang's former residence, Changde Apartment, and I booked it again because of its excellent location and service. My child particularly loves the hot spring pool here. We also ate several meals at CP Jing'an this time, which was very convenient. However, you need to watch the time when taking a taxi. I noticed during this trip to Shanghai that Jing'an Temple is really congested. Getting to the hotel was a constant jam, and the ride to the airport was also quite slow. The hotel breakfast is excellent! There's a wide variety, and I always eat too much. Check-out time is also very flexible; my flight was at 4 PM, and the front desk staff kindly extended our check-out to 1:30 PM, which was fantastic service. Decent stay, but several misses for a 5-star property My stay at the Pullman Shanghai Central was a mixed bag—nice in some areas, but disappointing in others. Check-in: The staff were very friendly and welcoming on our first day. However, I was surprised that they wouldn't let me check in until 3:00 PM. At most other hotels, I'm usually able to get an early check-in (even if I arrive at noon), so this felt a bit rigid for a property of this level. The Room: The room itself was comfortable—the bed was soft and the shower pressure was actually perfect (not too strong, not too weak, just right). Unfortunately, the room smelled strongly of cigarette smoke upon arrival. To their credit, when I called the front desk, they immediately offered to change my room, which was very professional of them. Breakfast: This was the biggest letdown. The breakfast buffet felt more like what you'd expect from a 3-star hotel rather than a 5-star Pullman. The quality and selection just weren't there for me. Overall: It was an okay stay—nothing terrible, but nothing exceptional either. I wouldn't rate it a 10/10, more like a solid 6. What particularly stood out was the hot spring. The atmosphere was superb, and it felt like I was experiencing the luxury of a Japanese ryokan, even though I was abroad. I believe it's on par with the best ryokans in Japan. Among them, Mr. Gao's service was exceptional; he was incredibly attentive to every detail and escorted us with care throughout our stay. Thanks to him, it became an even more special and pleasant experience. The hotel's atmosphere, the hot spring, and the thoughtfulness of all the staff were all magnificent. It's definitely a hotel I would love to visit again.

I stayed one night at Yuansu Hot Spring Hotel in Shanghai, and the overall experience was better than expected. The room was very clean and well-equipped, making for a comfortable stay. My favorite part was the private hot spring tub in the room. After returning in the evening, I could soak anytime without needing a reservation, which offered excellent privacy. The hotel also offers therapeutic activities like meditation. Unfortunately, I only stayed one night and didn't have much time to try them, but they seemed quite unique. Parking at the hotel is very convenient, with plenty of spaces available. If you're driving, you basically don't have to worry about parking. The hotel staff provided excellent and patient service. They were always quick to help with any issues and spoke very kindly. Even though it was just a one-night stay, the overall experience was great. If I'm looking for a quiet place to relax and enjoy a hot spring in Shanghai in the future, I would definitely consider coming back here.

The hotel room facilities are good, with everything that should be there. The smoking area outside is also very beautiful. The breakfast in the morning is very good, it is self-service, and there are freshly made noodles to eat. If you are thirsty, you can go downstairs at any time to have some drinks and fruits, which are all included in the hotel package. Why the deduction? Like many reviews wrote, the water in the pool here is really too hot. It is the hottest of all the hot springs in Shanghai that I have been to. It feels too hot. I saw that several children could hardly soak in the water for a while. I don’t know why so many people complained. I saw that the management was still saying in the comments that it met the hot spring temperature requirements. What they said is that your water is too hot, and they are giving you suggestions. Everyone in the hot spring said that the water was hot, not that you violated any regulations... It takes talent to reply like this

I visited Qianyun after looking at dozens of places in the area. I wanted to be away from typical city area, have a bathtub and nice outdoor area, and with easy access to Shanghai Disneyland. Qianyun met all those requirements and more! The location was immediately very serene and surrounded by forest, but still easy to access lots of waimai food delivery options. They were also very kind and proactive about sharing information about local restaurants and activities, and provide a breakfast and evening fruit every day. They offer free car transport to Disneyland, and I was excited to use this service but I ended up enjoying my time at the hotel so much that I opted to stay and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere instead! The hotel pets are so friendly - within five minutes the little cat Banban was on my lap and purring. The room itself is decorated very nicely with all the amenities you need. The bathtub inside is very comfortable and I loved the outdoor hot spring tub as well. The attention to hygiene is very highly emphasized and I was impressed with how clean and luxurious everything felt. I will definitely visit again and recommend to anyone hoping to have a convenient getaway from the city, or who would like to be near to Disneyland Resort while also experiencing a more peaceful area and for a good economical value and high quality service! Thankyou for the wonderful stay, I felt very welcome at all times.

Our stay here truly exceeded all expectations, and I must give a huge shout-out to Sharon from the hotel! During our stay, not only was her service thoughtful and attentive, but it also happened to be the Mid-Autumn Festival. She warmly presented me with a box of exquisite and delicious mooncakes and even prepared special toiletries and slippers for the kids. Every detail showed immense sincerity. She was consistently enthusiastic and patient with guests, responding to requests efficiently and meticulously, making communication a real pleasure. The hotel's overall environment, cleanliness, and service standards were all top-notch. You can directly overlook Xintiandi, and the hotel's promotional video even features Ayanga. With such a professional and warm staff member like Sharon, the entire check-in process was incredibly comfortable. Next time I'm in the area, this will definitely be my first choice, and I'll strongly recommend it to all my friends.

I rarely review hotels, but the service at The Portman Ritz-Carlton is truly exceptional – friendly and just right. The hotel facilities are also incredibly well-maintained; the elevators and the bar on the first floor have an aesthetic that harks back to an economically prosperous era. We booked an executive room, and the ladies at the executive lounge were professional and welcoming. They even knew it was our birthday and gave us a new Ritz lion charm when we checked out – so thoughtful! The lounge's food selection isn't vast, but the ingredients are top-notch, and every dish is meticulously prepared. The hot pastries are particularly excellent – crispy and not greasy. I'll definitely be back.

I recently had to stay at Citadines for an extended period due to some personal matters. I was initially worried about potential inconveniences, but it turns out all my concerns were unnecessary. The front desk and concierge service are absolutely top-notch, five stars! I receive many deliveries daily, and the concierge always diligently brings them right to my room door, saving me the hassle of going downstairs to pick them up. I don't have to worry about packages at all. For long-term residents, this attention to detail is incredibly thoughtful and saves a lot of time and effort. The room cleanliness is also excellent. The housekeeping staff does a fantastic job; the room is always spotless and comfortable, which makes for a pleasant stay. The overall service attitude is great, and any requests are handled promptly. As a brand under Ascott, Citadines truly delivers on service quality, making for a worry-free and comfortable stay. I highly recommend it to anyone needing long-term accommodation! 👍

I specifically came here because of the TV show 'Blossoms' and I'm very satisfied. A big thank you to the lovely lady at the front desk who upgraded my room! All the staff I encountered were polite and enthusiastic, I give their service a perfect score 💯. The decor really suits my aesthetic, it's worth savoring every detail. The Peace Hotel truly lives up to its reputation as the face of Shanghai; as a Shanghainese myself, I'm so proud of it! I particularly recommend their guided tours, held daily at 10 AM and 2 PM. The half-hour explanation gives you insight into its century-long history, and there are many beautiful crafts to admire too. The breakfast selection is also very rich, and we were pleasantly surprised to find our favorites like wontons, potstickers, and soup dumplings. Just a small suggestion: it would be even better if low pillows were available. Overall, the experience was fantastic, and I'll definitely recommend it to friends. We'd love to have the chance to stay here again! 😃

The front desk staff were warm and welcoming, smiling as we arrived. Grand Hyatt Shanghai truly lives up to its flagship reputation, showcasing extremely high professional standards. The breakfast spread was extensive, a great blend of Eastern and Western cuisine. Although it's in Pudong Lujiazui, getting around by public transport, subway, and shopping are all quite convenient. We stayed on a high floor, offering a wide view of the city, including the beautiful Oriental Pearl Tower and the Huangpu River. Personally, I wholeheartedly recommend Grand Hyatt Shanghai, with its rich history and soaring height, as the top choice for anyone visiting Shanghai.

This stay was fantastic! The room was clean and tidy, and the front desk service was warm and attentive. A special thanks to the hotel for kindly arranging a late check-out for me, which made my trip much more relaxed without having to rush. The breakfast was very unique; the chef was full of energy and enthusiasm in the morning. They offered both special Shanghai delicacies and Thai-flavored breakfast, which was great! 👍 Overall, it offered excellent value for money, and I had a comfortable stay. Outstanding four-night stay – impeccable service and perfect Jing’an location I recently stayed four nights at the Jing An Shangri-La, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The staff were consistently warm, professional, and attentive—nothing was too much trouble. The gym is very well equipped, and the swimming pool is lovely and relaxing, perfect after a busy day in Shanghai. The location in Jing’an is ideal, within easy walking distance to several major malls, restaurants, and transport links. What really stood out was the service after I checked out: I accidentally left an item behind, and the team quickly arranged to send it back to Hong Kong for me. I highly recommend this hotel and will definitely return

The service was good, and the environment was pleasant. My room had a river view. However, there were people smoking in the rooms or hallways, and when I opened my door, I could smell smoke. I suggest better separation between smoking and non-smoking areas. Also, breakfast wasn't great; there were very few choices, and some of the fried items were overcooked. I waited a long time for a wrap, only for it to be quite unappetizing. I noticed a staff member serving youtiao (fried dough sticks) – one hand had a glove, the other didn't, and they used their bare hand to break the youtiao to put into a wrap. At the noodle station, the noodles were placed so far back and so high up that it was really inconvenient for guests to get them. The staff standing nearby didn't offer any help. I recommend placing food items in more accessible locations. Overall, the dining options and management definitely need improvement.

The hotel boasts an excellent location, and its blend of a magnificent historic building with East-meets-West interior design imbues every detail with profound depth and elegant charm. The guest rooms are spacious and comfortable, offering superb views of both sides of the Huangpu River. All the staff I encountered were well-trained, friendly, and provided efficient and attentive service. The breakfast buffet, featuring both Western and Chinese options, was abundant and authentic in taste. The Long Bar on the ground floor of the old building is highly recommended; it has been meticulously restored to its original appearance from a century ago, exuding a vintage yet exquisite ambiance. On Friday nights, live jazz musicians enhance the already fantastic atmosphere.

Getting in and out of the car at the hotel entrance was inconvenient, with no shelter from the rain, which was a hassle on rainy days. The road was also narrow and prone to traffic jams. The smart home system needs improvement; it wasn't very responsive. Several TVs had no signal, and casting to the device ultimately failed, which felt quite inconvenient. Overall, it was decent. Location: Conveniently situated, directly accessible from Hongqiao Railway Station underground, after passing through the complex, so there's no need to go above ground to find it. Dining and other amenities are also easily accessible. Hygiene: Satisfied, quite clean. Facilities: Well-equipped, though the air conditioning was a bit difficult to adjust. Service: A big commendation to the front desk duty manager who answered the phone and handled my issue on the evening of March 13th. There was a slight problem with my room type upon check-in, and the duty manager resolved it promptly and with a sincere attitude. Very satisfied!

Hongqiao District Shanghai|8.21km from city center
A true hidden gem in this modern high-rise. The hotel is in the same building as the Novotel – specifically, Citadines occupies floors 15 to 18. The check-in experience is an absolute 10/10: the team is incredibly welcoming, offering coffee, tea, and small pastries, plus there's a very pleasant coworking space. The rooms feel like compact studios with a kitchenette: microwave, washing machine, dryer, a full-sized fridge, and lots of storage. The bed and pillows are supremely cozy, and the shower… just wow! The water pressure is outstanding – truly a delight. The door goes from floor to ceiling, so steam from long, hot showers stays inside the bathroom. The sink area is a little tight, but perfectly fine for one or two people. Special shout-out: the magnifying mirror and the Japanese toilet – a real touch of luxury that I thoroughly enjoyed. This time was just a long weekend, and we had a fantastic, relaxing stay. The only small drawback: the metro is about 1 km away, maybe slightly farther. But the value for money is so excellent that what you save on the hotel more than covers a taxi ride. In fact, I had a 6:00 am train from Hongqiao and pre-ordered a Didi – it took just 15 minutes door to door, which was incredibly convenient for me. Considering how reasonable the price at Citadines already is, the Didi cost felt like nothing. That sealed the deal for me. This is my third time staying here, and it remains my go-to place in Shanghai. Highly recommended – I'll be back again soon.
