Okura Garden Hotel Shanghai

I stayed at the Garden Hotel again during the May Golden Week holiday to watch the Longines Global Champions Tour in Shanghai. My first stay at the Garden Hotel was 30 years ago. The marble in the lobby, the Rose restaurant, and the small mosaic tiles in the corridors still maintain their grand and elegant style. That's why I always come back to this familiar place whenever I return to China. It was a family member's birthday on the day we checked in, and the hotel gave us a box of rich chocolates. I was truly touched by the hotel's thoughtfulness, it made us very happy! **Facilities**: The TOTO toilet at the Garden Hotel is my favorite because of its washlet function, making going to the restroom so comfortable! The depth and length of the bathtub are also perfect for me. The slippers are very thick and durable; I always feel reluctant to throw them away when checking out. I even take the used slippers with me to wear on planes or high-speed trains. **Hygiene**: The hygiene details are impeccable. The towels are soft and comfortable, with dense loops, making them very reassuring to use on the skin. **Environment**: The hotel has its own garden, where you can enjoy a rare tranquility in the city of Shanghai during a morning stroll! Just one traffic light to the left of the hotel entrance, there are many small bars and restaurants! There are even two Michelin-starred restaurants! It's definitely worth a walk and exploring. **Service**: I bought many things online, and they were delivered to the hotel in batches. The concierge meticulously recorded everything and delivered them to our room! When we left, the concierge helped put our luggage in the car trunk, opened and closed the doors, and politely bid us farewell. **Welcome Package**: We received canned drinks and snacks, which was a nice surprise!

It's a bit like a Japanese Okura Hotel – classic but very clean. The location is super convenient, and it offers great value for money. The cakes and black tea at the lobby bar were delicious, and the public areas are beautiful and very well-maintained.

This is an established five-star hotel, and overall, everything is still great. The breakfast is decent, with a slight Japanese influence. The location is excellent, and you can get a late check-out, plus parking is free. However, the afternoon tea at the cafe was a bit disappointing.

First, let's talk about the location: the hotel is very close to the subway station, making it incredibly convenient for getting around. For anyone visiting Shanghai, it's definitely a preferred option. I especially want to commend the airport transfer service. Both my arrival and departure were on late-night international flights, and I was initially worried about the inconvenience of the early hours. However, the entire process was incredibly smooth – the pick-up staff was already waiting with a sign when I landed, and the drop-off before my departure was perfectly arranged with absolutely no wasted waiting time. The staff's service was exceptionally thoughtful; when you're exhausted from traveling, such considerate arrangements truly warm your heart. The hotel's environment is as beautiful as ever. During this stay, I hardly saw anyone taking influencer photos in the garden, which significantly improved the overall aesthetics and tranquility. It made for a much more relaxing stay. Furthermore, receiving food deliveries and packages was also very convenient, with the concierge staff providing excellent and impressive service. Overall, it was a very satisfying stay, and I will definitely choose this hotel again next time I come to Shanghai.

The room was really clean, you wouldn't even guess it's an old building. The environment was also great, and I even saw two weddings!

This building has a history of 100 years, and the hotel itself has been operating for nearly 40 years. It's truly impressive how busy it still is and how well maintained all the facilities are! The breakfast buffet is very well managed; even with a crowd, it's orderly and not chaotic, and the environment is elegant. My only complaint is that some local female guests in the lobby were too loud, which unfortunately detracts from the image of the locals. The hotel management should proactively ask noisy guests to keep it down.

The location is pretty good, close to the city center. It's within walking distance to Huaihai Road. It's an older star-rated hotel, so the facilities are a bit dated. For this location, the price is reasonable.

The hotel service was excellent, and check-in was very quick. They even upgraded us to a room with a great view. The location is fantastic, making it super convenient for a walk, shopping, or ordering takeout. The hotel's interior decor is also beautiful, and all the staff members were very friendly. The best part was definitely the hotel garden. It was so relaxing to sit by the fountain and sunbathe on a sunny day. I'll definitely stay here again next time I'm in Shanghai!
