Furong Ancient Town Tickets & Guide
Furong Town, known in Chinese as 芙蓉镇, is a two-thousand-year-old Tujia town in Hunan Province that was once called Wangcun and became famous after the 1986 film Hibiscus Town was shot here. Its old stone street and stilt houses cling to a cliff above the You River, with a 60-metre waterfall thundering through the middle of the settlement, and after dark the whole cliff face is lit in gold. It is small, it is deeply photogenic, and the smartest way to see it is to arrive in the afternoon, stay one night, and leave the next morning.
