Gotta say, the vibe at this hostel is amazing, exactly what you'd expect from an international hostel. There are activities every night, and everyone is so welcoming. It's perfect for young people and those who love to socialize. Just a friendly tip: it's a good idea to bring a pair of slippers! 😹😹😹 And they have cats! When I was leaving in the morning, a cat seemed to sense I was alone and came over to keep me company.

It was a breeze to book the hotel. Details were provided promptly to register yourself before they provide the passcodes to enter. Note that there is no staffs in the hotel. All communications are strictly via WhatsApp and email. Helped a Chinese national to contact the staffs as she has no WhatsApp account. So for foreigners, please note to get the registration done earlier to avoid not able to enter into hotel. Capsule is quite clean but has a bit of smell. Toilet is ok too. All in all, you get what you pay for.

The room was very spacious, everyone was quiet, and the air conditioning was at a comfortable temperature. It's within walking distance of Penang's main attractions, just a few minutes or ten minutes' walk away. The receptionist was polite and humble.

The floor is not very clean and they do not provide slippers or toothbrush/toothpaste The bed has creeking sound and theres stairs going up, no lift But the rooftop view is nice The staff is good!

I recently stayed at the YMCA Hotel in Penang, and overall, my experience was quite satisfactory for a 2-star establishment. Overall, If you’re looking for a budget-friendly option in Penang with a central location, YMCA Hotel is a solid choice. It’s perfect for travelers who prioritize location and affordability over luxury. Just manage your expectations regarding the room’s aesthetics and amenities.

Booked as couple but provided only 1 pair of slipper. One side of the bed is next to the wall.

Clean room, helpful receptionist, strategic location, clean toilet and pantry. There is laundry shop nearby. There is nothing that I can complain about. Too comfortable staying here.

The hotel says it was converted from a historical building, but what I can't understand is why there isn't even a name on the door. I couldn't be sure even after driving around a few times, and it was difficult to stop and confirm. Although there was an email description, I couldn't confirm from the door that this was the place the email said it was. The walls of the room are a bit thin, and I can feel it when the residents in the isolation room lean against the wall. The Muslim morning prayer begins at 5 a.m. One of the 4 water heaters was broken, and one was turned on to 55 degrees but still seemed to be 37 degrees. I feel that the overall facilities are rough. The location of the hotel is very good, right next to love lane. It is a good choice for those who like nightlife. It has to be close to other places as well. The overall experience was not as good as expected.

I was very satisfied with my overall experience at this hotel! First and foremost, the most convenient aspect was the airport transfer service. The driver was punctual and friendly, making the journey from the airport to the hotel very smooth. I didn't have to worry about transportation or getting lost at all. This service is truly thoughtful, especially for first-time visitors to the city. The hotel's hygiene was also quite impressive. Whether it was the lobby, elevators, or inside the rooms, everything was meticulously cleaned, and the air was fresh with no unpleasant odors. The bed in the room was soft and comfortable, the bathroom was clean and tidy, and all the towels and amenities were well-stocked, making for a very reassuring stay. The daily cleaning service was also excellent; the staff would proactively clean and replenish daily necessities. The location was also fantastic. The hotel is situated in a very convenient area with many restaurants, cafes, and convenience stores nearby. You can easily find food or daily essentials within a short walk. Whether you want to try local specialties or just grab a quick meal, it's incredibly easy. Moreover, the hotel is not far from shopping malls and public transportation, making it convenient for taking a taxi or public bus.
