We were first given a room with a view on the bar and swimming pool, just next to the second floor open terrace which was awful in terms of privacy. Fortunately we were changed to a room on the far East of the old building and the view as fantastic.. the room was old but well maintained. The problem was the terrace door was not sound proof and we learnt at night how bothersome it would be. Because you see, our room was just above the restaurant that gives directly to the sea where waves crash on the rocks. Impossible to have a quiet night. Light sleepers better choose a room in the swimming pool area. Food was ok. Service as everywhere in SriLanka was slow and not very responsive. You had to ask twice for hot water or something. We expected more for a 5 stars. We tried the restaurant next to the spa on our last night and service was great there. The pizza at the pizza restaurant next to the pool was very good. Location of the hotel was great, a 5 min by tuktuk to the castle. Unfortunately, everything was almost perfect until the day we left. We realized the hotel has a monopoly on all the taxi and tuktuk that come and leave the hotel. As I couldn't book a car on Uber or kangaroo cab, we just asked a driver who just dropped a group of people if we could hire him and he was ok but the hotel staff interrupted us and sent him away because they asked us to choose from their drivers which was completely absurd. We insisted on using this driver so they entered in a negotiation with the driver to get a cut on the fees. Apparently these are common practices in 5 star hotels. A total mafia style management. Outrageous. And in the hotel room, you have a biography of the founder that highlight his ambition to highlight Sri Lankan hospitality. I encourage him to take a look in the mirror. For that I would not recommend this place, especially during winter vacation when prices are half a grand for 2 nights!

The stay in the hotel was absolutely fantastic. The hotel layout is just beautiful with the open architecture and view of the Galle fortress. The rooms we had were very spacious even for suites. Lovely bathroom, living area, garden, lots of places to rest. We did not use the pool but it looked nice. The hotel is a short distance from the fort so you can walk there and enjoy it while being away from the business. The beds were comfortable and you only hear the ocean, not the street noise. I would give 6 stars if possible.

Charming hotel in the heart of Galle Fort. All the staff are very polite and attentive, always with a big smile on their faces. A boutique hotel in a colonial style. The rooms are spacious and have everything you need for a comfortable stay. Modern bathroom with shower. The courtyard makes you feel completely relaxed and peaceful. It is definitely a hotel to recommend and would love to stay with again. The value for money is excellent. The whole area maintains a colonial atmosphere, with countless restaurants and souvenir shops. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

I really like this one. The mansion of the legendary Dutch navy general has only a dozen rooms. There is no noisy feeling in other hotels and it is very quiet. They are all flat, with a large courtyard in the middle, which is very comfortable. Each room is extremely large and decorated with a sense of history. The beds are oversized and estimated to be 2.2 meters. The dining was good and the waiters were polite. I just met them for Chinese New Year, and in the evening I greeted everyone to go to the yard to set off fireworks.

Unfortunately, there was a temporarily blackout in the middle of the night, and it was pitch black, and for some reason the smell of gasoline was just in the room. Other than that, it was comfortable!

Double room with 2 beds on the ground floor, rather dark, unfortunately full of cracks and therefore full of mosquitoes, air conditioning somewhat unreliable, mosquito nets for both beds more like a cloth coffin feeling... No kettle, room rather cramped, cleanliness okay, shower with good water pressure and warm, breakfast plentiful and delicious (coffee/tea, juice, a plate full of fruit, fried egg or omelette with sausages, toast with jam all you can eat, really absolutely delicious!

We absolutely loved the Araliya Hotel. It's a great hotel with a fantastic beach, sand, and sea. They have excellent sun loungers exclusively for guests, and the beachfront area is guarded, so you don't have to worry about outsiders taking them. The beach bar/restaurant is superb, with excellent service. They always have cold beer, delicious cocktails, fresh fruit, and fish. Every day, they'd bring out freshly caught tuna and announce it to the whole beach, which was quite a highlight. The sandy beach is gently sloping, the sea is warm, and the water is clear. You'll see a lot of families and children on the beach. It's definitely a family-friendly hotel, with about 80% Russian guests. The staff doesn't speak Russian (except for one person), but that's not an issue with the restaurants around the hotel, where many people, including taxi drivers, understand Russian. We really enjoyed everything. It has all you need for a relaxing vacation. The rooms are spacious and clean, and all have sea views. The bathroom is also quite large. Nearby, there's a street with restaurants and shops offering good prices. You'll find currency exchange offices everywhere; the rates are a bit lower than at the airport, but not by much. We truly loved our stay and will definitely be back, maybe with our kids next time. P.S. I'd like to give a special shout-out to Naveen, one of the restaurant staff members. He's a very pleasant, smiling, and responsive guy who went out of his way to make every guest comfortable. We were very impressed with his service.

The alley is very deep, the hotel has a TukTuk car, otherwise you can't get out; the ecology is very good, you can see monkeys, squirrels, four-legged snakes when you open the door, there will be geckos in the room after rain, haha; the room is an open-air bathroom and toilet, I was worried about washing half of the monkeys and jumping off. This is the best hotel in all Sri Lanka!!! Kitchen, service, privacy, location - all on the height! In the hotel only 30 rooms, people are not, even with full load, you are as if you are alone! Pleasant uncrowded beaches with a pleasant ocean. You can walk on the shore on duty. The hotel feeds on the menu, each dish is an art piece. Butler is doing whatever you wish. We had a truly wonderful stay at Heritance Ahungalla, and the entire experience exceeded our expectations from start to finish. The check-in process was smooth and welcoming, and the fresh juices served upon arrival were very refreshing after the journey. The room was spotlessly clean, tidy, spacious, and well equipped with all the luxury amenities needed for a comfortable stay. The atmosphere throughout the resort had a relaxing beachside vibe, which made the stay even more enjoyable. We also used the gym, which was properly equipped with a good range of equipment. The resort has two swimming pools, and we spent most of our time at the main pool, which was absolutely massive and perfect for relaxing. The highlight of the stay was definitely the food experience. The dinner buffet was exceptional with an incredible variety of dishes. There were large selections of salads, appetizers, breads and buns, Sri Lankan specialties, international cuisine, and live cooking stations. The seafood and meat variety was especially impressive — including chicken, beef, pork, cuttlefish, prawns, fish, and many other seafood dishes, with multiple preparations for each. My personal favorite was the pork leg, which was incredibly delicious, tender, and flavorful. The dessert corner was huge, offering plenty of choices and beautifully presented sweets. After a very comfortable night’s sleep, we went for breakfast, and honestly, it was just as impressive as dinner. The breakfast buffet included a massive spread with salad stations, bakery items, fresh fruits, Sri Lankan and international breakfast options, live stations, and an amazing juice bar with around 7–8 varieties of fresh juices. They also had a dedicated cheese section, multiple yogurt options, and even 4–5 types of porridges, which was something unique and very well done. Overall, Heritance Ahungalla offers a fantastic combination of luxury, comfort, delicious food, and relaxing coastal ambience. Everything from the service to the dining and facilities was excellent. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a memorable beach getaway in Sri Lanka! 🌴✨

This hotel is the most impressive and satisfying one in the entire Sri Lankan itinerary. It completely exceeded expectations and surpassed the other two heritage hotels in my heart. The hotel has only 4 rooms with English-style butler service. It is very quiet and can provide better services. You can choose the breakfast you want according to your own taste (there are local style, Western European style and various options). You can tell the housekeeper the meal time and food the day before, and the next morning will be specially made for you and delivered to the room or in the room. Номер большой, немного подубитый, но в целом неплохо. администратор Люк Оперативно решал бытовые вопросы (не было горячей воды / не работал холодильник, но все быстро решилось). Есть красивый бассейн и лежаки. Рядом пару продуктовых магазинов и пару местных кафе с едой. Фрукты дорогие , лучше ехать подальше за ними. Фонари по дороге не горят. Отель закрывают на ночь в 22:00, наверное , это правильно в целях безопасности. Отель рекомендую.

A beautiful panoramic pool, a cozy area on the lawn with chiselling and gams under palm trees at the very shore for full relaxation and adoration of sunsets. We have included in addition to breakfast and dinner. Beautiful feed, large portions and very delicious. Near a big supermarket, a mask museum. Also not far walk to the city where you can buy fruit. Needless to say jetwing, Lanka's high-end resort hotel brand. Although this is a franchise store and not a direct store, it uses its management team and its products. Small details need to be strengthened. A lot of food is shipped from the lighthouse hotel next to it, so the service time is relatively long, there is no bathtub, and the water output is slightly smaller. The manager is very enthusiastic and the service is in place. The other waiters are less experienced in internships and have poor English communication skills. The last stop of this Sri Lanka trip was full of praise! Originally because of the mistake of Trip.com , I missed the pool room type. After I found out, I was very anxious. A decent hotel with a good beach and responsive staff. A beautiful view from the room (if you take the ocean view). From the downsides - the road passes right behind the hotel. Although the hotel and the beach are fenced, the noise is heard, especially lying on the beach ... interrupts even the noise of the slot. But this is a problem as I understand the whole south-west coast.. On the day of departure was early check-out, staff had prepared breakfast. and gave it with them.

This place is absolutely gorgeous in every way. My only wishes were that 1. There were enough pool beds for people staying (bit of a downer not to be able to guarantee a spot by the beautiful pool) and 2. That it was adults only instead of kid - friendly.

The hotel's exterior looked new, and the room was very clean. We received guava juice as a welcome drink during check-in. The staff was incredibly polite, and I was very satisfied. (Though there was a gecko in my room, lol.)

We absolutely loved the Araliya Hotel. It's a great hotel with a fantastic beach, sand, and sea. They have excellent sun loungers exclusively for guests, and the beachfront area is guarded, so you don't have to worry about outsiders taking them. The beach bar/restaurant is superb, with excellent service. They always have cold beer, delicious cocktails, fresh fruit, and fish. Every day, they'd bring out freshly caught tuna and announce it to the whole beach, which was quite a highlight. The sandy beach is gently sloping, the sea is warm, and the water is clear. You'll see a lot of families and children on the beach. It's definitely a family-friendly hotel, with about 80% Russian guests. The staff doesn't speak Russian (except for one person), but that's not an issue with the restaurants around the hotel, where many people, including taxi drivers, understand Russian. We really enjoyed everything. It has all you need for a relaxing vacation. The rooms are spacious and clean, and all have sea views. The bathroom is also quite large. Nearby, there's a street with restaurants and shops offering good prices. You'll find currency exchange offices everywhere; the rates are a bit lower than at the airport, but not by much. We truly loved our stay and will definitely be back, maybe with our kids next time. P.S. I'd like to give a special shout-out to Naveen, one of the restaurant staff members. He's a very pleasant, smiling, and responsive guy who went out of his way to make every guest comfortable. We were very impressed with his service.

I was very satisfied with everything, especially the stunning sunsets from our room's balcony. The dining options are all international. There are about four restaurants: a buffet, a poolside bar, an Italian restaurant, and another bar. The breakfast buffet offers a wide and delicious variety of international dishes. The cleanliness is excellent, and the service is incredibly thoughtful. The front desk staff even remembered our names! After staying for three nights, they still recognized us at check-out. We didn't want to leave and will definitely be back!

We stayed 1 night here and enjoyed it very much. What really stood out was the amazing service which included a birthday cake, a free upgrade and a bubble bath for the birthday girl. The breakfast was delicious and ensured we were full for the whole day. A complimentary tea or coffee was delivered to the room in the morning. The location of the hotel was such that you can look out at the ocean from the terrace. We enjoyed a dip in the pool both days as the water was cool and refreshing after a hot walk in the fort. The room and bathroom were beautifully done. Highly recommended.

Hello. Me and my partner checked in on 18 of February in the hotel. Let me start with the good things. Breakfast is good. Quality of the products is good, but lack of cheese. Would be nice having at least one type. Stuff is friendly. Especially the one on the swimming pool Cons Lack of hot water. Enough for quick shower for one person.. We started to call them to fix the problem.. Could not even react to the reception!! Nobody was picking the phone before 21.00. Next day we should remind them again to check inside the room, not only outside. Unfortunately.. Problem was not fixed.. And we should be mega fast taking shower or wait long time.. Imagine if this is family of 4. First day bedsheet was dirty. Overall hotel is nice but hope they can pay more attention on managing it better. Also not so important, but I guess because of the wet weather. See the pics belpw

We stayed at this hotel in February 2026. The location is absolutely brilliant! Right on the Indian Ocean! Literally a stone's throw away is a beach with huge sea turtles, and another beach perfect for swimming with fine, white sand. There are tons of cafes and restaurants nearby, as well as souvenir shops. A supermarket isn't far either, you can buy anything you need! The hotel itself is small, with a bed and a few pieces of furniture in the room. There's no fridge, TV, or kettle, but if you ask the staff, they'll happily provide hot water and dishes. Overall, it's a very basic setup, just enough for sleeping, and that's perfectly fine. The staff at the hotel are incredibly lovely and welcoming. They're always ready to help, offer advice, and call a taxi if needed. They're also very fond of children. The hotel is always fully booked, and many guests return multiple times. Our entire family was very pleased with our stay at this hotel. We'll definitely recommend it and will always remember it with warmth and love.
