We were first given a room with a view on the bar and swimming pool, just next to the second floor open terrace which was awful in terms of privacy. Fortunately we were changed to a room on the far East of the old building and the view as fantastic.. the room was old but well maintained. The problem was the terrace door was not sound proof and we learnt at night how bothersome it would be. Because you see, our room was just above the restaurant that gives directly to the sea where waves crash on the rocks. Impossible to have a quiet night. Light sleepers better choose a room in the swimming pool area. Food was ok. Service as everywhere in SriLanka was slow and not very responsive. You had to ask twice for hot water or something. We expected more for a 5 stars. We tried the restaurant next to the spa on our last night and service was great there. The pizza at the pizza restaurant next to the pool was very good. Location of the hotel was great, a 5 min by tuktuk to the castle. Unfortunately, everything was almost perfect until the day we left. We realized the hotel has a monopoly on all the taxi and tuktuk that come and leave the hotel. As I couldn't book a car on Uber or kangaroo cab, we just asked a driver who just dropped a group of people if we could hire him and he was ok but the hotel staff interrupted us and sent him away because they asked us to choose from their drivers which was completely absurd. We insisted on using this driver so they entered in a negotiation with the driver to get a cut on the fees. Apparently these are common practices in 5 star hotels. A total mafia style management. Outrageous. And in the hotel room, you have a biography of the founder that highlight his ambition to highlight Sri Lankan hospitality. I encourage him to take a look in the mirror. For that I would not recommend this place, especially during winter vacation when prices are half a grand for 2 nights!

The stay in the hotel was absolutely fantastic. The hotel layout is just beautiful with the open architecture and view of the Galle fortress. The rooms we had were very spacious even for suites. Lovely bathroom, living area, garden, lots of places to rest. We did not use the pool but it looked nice. The hotel is a short distance from the fort so you can walk there and enjoy it while being away from the business. The beds were comfortable and you only hear the ocean, not the street noise. I would give 6 stars if possible.

Very bad attitude! The water and electricity were cut off for two hours, and no one dealt with it. I complained to Ctrip, but they replied that it was a power outage in the entire area. How did other guests stay there? Not sincere at all! In addition, there were three rooms that were not in the hotel, but 200 meters away from the hotel. There was no mention or reminder on the booking interface. Ctrip was also at fault. Who would stay in a place 200 meters away with no service? This is a hotel, not Airbnb.

I really like this one. The mansion of the legendary Dutch navy general has only a dozen rooms. There is no noisy feeling in other hotels and it is very quiet. They are all flat, with a large courtyard in the middle, which is very comfortable. Each room is extremely large and decorated with a sense of history. The beds are oversized and estimated to be 2.2 meters. The dining was good and the waiters were polite. I just met them for Chinese New Year, and in the evening I greeted everyone to go to the yard to set off fireworks.

From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by wonderfully friendly staff at the reception desk, and our positive impression continued when we saw our room. It was incredibly spacious and spotlessly clean and a perfect space to relax in. Unfortunately, our enthusiasm dipped when we looked out the window. We had eagerly anticipated the sea view we booked, but found ourselves on the first floor looking directly onto the main path to the restaurant. The lack of both a view and privacy was a real disappointment. The challenges were compounded by a local festival taking place during our stay. This rendered the beach unusable due to the sheer volume of people. Worse, the road closures made leaving the hotel a logistical headache, leaving us feeling a bit trapped. A final frustration was discovering there were no shops nearby and no convenience store in the hotel itself, so be sure to pack everything you might need. In summary, while we can't fault the hotel on its cleanliness or the friendliness of its staff, the experience was significantly hampered by the room mix-up and the festival chaos. It wasn’t a bad stay, but it was far from the relaxing getaway we had planned.

This is the best hotel in all Sri Lanka!!! Kitchen, service, privacy, location - all on the height! In the hotel only 30 rooms, people are not, even with full load, you are as if you are alone! The check-in process was smooth and welcoming, and the fresh juices served upon arrival were very refreshing after the journey. The room was spotlessly clean, tidy, spacious, and well equipped with all the luxury amenities needed for a comfortable stay. The atmosphere throughout the resort had a relaxing beachside vibe, which made the stay even more enjoyable. We also used the gym, which was properly equipped with a good range of equipment. The resort has two swimming pools, and we spent most of our time at the main pool, which was absolutely massive and perfect for relaxing. The highlight of the stay was definitely the food experience. The dinner buffet was exceptional with an incredible variety of dishes. There were large selections of salads, appetizers, breads and buns, Sri Lankan specialties, international cuisine, and live cooking stations. The seafood and meat variety was especially impressive — including chicken, beef, pork, cuttlefish, prawns, fish, and many other seafood dishes, with multiple preparations for each. My personal favorite was the pork leg, which was incredibly delicious, tender, and flavorful. The dessert corner was huge, offering plenty of choices and beautifully presented sweets. After a very comfortable night’s sleep, we went for breakfast, and honestly, it was just as impressive as dinner. The breakfast buffet included a massive spread with salad stations, bakery items, fresh fruits, Sri Lankan and international breakfast options, live stations, and an amazing juice bar with around 7–8 varieties of fresh juices. They also had a dedicated cheese section, multiple yogurt options, and even 4–5 types of porridges, which was something unique and very well done. Overall, Heritance Ahungalla offers a fantastic combination of luxury, comfort, delicious food, and relaxing coastal ambience. Everything from the service to the dining and facilities was excellent. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a memorable beach getaway in Sri Lanka! 🌴✨

To be honest, this is the only one that is below my expectations among the five hotels I stayed in Sri Lanka this time. Номер большой, немного подубитый, но в целом неплохо. администратор Люк Оперативно решал бытовые вопросы (не было горячей воды / не работал холодильник, но все быстро решилось). Есть красивый бассейн и лежаки. Рядом пару продуктовых магазинов и пару местных кафе с едой. Фрукты дорогие , лучше ехать подальше за ними. Фонари по дороге не горят. Отель закрывают на ночь в 22:00, наверное , это правильно в целях безопасности. Отель рекомендую.

The last stop of this Sri Lanka trip was full of praise! Originally because of the mistake of Trip.com , I missed the pool room type. After I found out, I was very anxious. The hotel manager was very patient and actively helped to communicate and coordinate after learning about the situation. Finally, the problem was properly solved and let us stay smoothly. More heartwarming, the hotel also gave an extra breakfast and dinner for the third person, the service was warm and intimate, and the details were full. A decent hotel with a good beach and responsive staff. A beautiful view from the room (if you take the ocean view). From the downsides - the road passes right behind the hotel. Although the hotel and the beach are fenced, the noise is heard, especially lying on the beach ... interrupts even the noise of the slot. But this is a problem as I understand the whole south-west coast.. On the day of departure was early check-out, staff had prepared breakfast. and gave it with them.

Very pleasantly surprised, like a small hotel hidden in the jungle. There is a welcome drink at check-in. The room has the fragrance of lemon grass. The toiletries are also lemon grass. This rendered the beach unusable due to the sheer volume of people. Worse, the road closures made leaving the hotel a logistical headache, leaving us feeling a bit trapped. A final frustration was discovering there were no shops nearby and no convenience store in the hotel itself, so be sure to pack everything you might need. In summary, while we can't fault the hotel on its cleanliness or the friendliness of its staff, the experience was significantly hampered by the room mix-up and the festival chaos. It wasn’t a bad stay, but it was far from the relaxing getaway we had planned.

Overall, we liked the hotel. Located in the small CoCobay Bay. Around the silence, only disrupted by the noise of waves, constantly rolling on the shore. The hotel is small - only 16 rooms, so the situation is chamber, almost family. Guests have a measured pace of rest - breakfast, beach, afternoon rest and beach again. In the evening dinner on the menu. And if breakfast in the hotel is modest and uniform, the kitchen is able to surprise at dinner. The main dish is distinct from a beautiful feed and always delicious. And the menu every day is new. The rooms are large, all with ocean view. The air conditioner works well. You get tired of the sun even in the shadow, so you enjoy the room at noon. Hotel is mainly for family couples and families with children. Some parents pay for children's surfing lessons here because compared to other beaches here, the soft wave is not deep. The surfing board can be rented here at the hotel. Another plus hotel - there are no sellers of all kinds. The lying vacationers are closely monitored. You can leave a phone in the bag and go swimming, and go back to the Internet, lying on a cheeslong There is a minus that is not noticed - a river falls in the ocean next to the hotel and after the rain it carries brown water in it. So clean and transparent water you will not see here. And here on the main beach in Unawatun water is just a pleasant blue-turquoise color. Maybe in the dry season the water in CoCoBay Bay looks different, but we were in October and rains went here every day.

The stay in the hotel was absolutely fantastic. The hotel layout is just beautiful with the open architecture and view of the Galle fortress. The rooms we had were very spacious even for suites. Lovely bathroom, living area, garden, lots of places to rest. We did not use the pool but it looked nice. The hotel is a short distance from the fort so you can walk there and enjoy it while being away from the business. The beds were comfortable and you only hear the ocean, not the street noise. I would give 6 stars if possible.

We started to call them to fix the problem.. Could not even react to the reception!! Nobody was picking the phone before 21.00. Next day we should remind them again to check inside the room, not only outside. Unfortunately.. Problem was not fixed.. And we should be mega fast taking shower or wait long time.. Imagine if this is family of 4. First day bedsheet was dirty. Overall hotel is nice but hope they can pay more attention on managing it better.
