Overall, it was an enjoyable stay although in some respects it was inferior to other hotels I stayed in on the holiday. The pools were great and so was the view from the room. The room itself was alright - quite basic but sufficient. We did have problems with a leak in the ceiling which was promptly addressed by staff but still a little annoying. In general the staff were lovely: in particular Chamindu in the restaurant, a security guard who called me and my partner over to show us turtles on the beach (sorry, can't remember his name) and the guy working the sunloungers at the lower pool. The weakest part was probably the food. It wasn't bad exactly, it was just worse than the food in all the other hotels I stayed in.From$189

I arrived at the hotel very early in the afternoon, and I printed the order number (English version) of Ctrip, but it was still delayed for a long time. But we upgraded the room type: sea view room (room 206). The check-in experience was still great. Because the previous nights were reserved for special hotels, I chose Asia Leisure for the last night because it is a new hotel in 2018. It is indeed new and I was not disappointed.
Meals: Two restaurants, we ordered food and spent 26,000 rupees, which is still very cost-effective. Breakfast is a cafeteria, and children need to make up the difference.
Location: 15 minutes walk from Galle Fort, it is very convenient to go there by tutu for 300-400 rupees.
Supporting facilities: The sight of the outdoor swimming pool is great, you can see the sea view and the towering ancient city, because it is located in the air outlet, it is only open until 8 o'clock every night. The types of equipment in the gym on the G floor are average.From$141

The infinity pool of Bawa architecture is a wonderful hotel. Many of the customers seemed to be from Sri Lanka. There were many people like honeymooners, but there were surprisingly many families and families.
Although the hotel was a little old, it was solidly built and there was no problem with the plumbing.
Service outside the restaurant was very good. The restaurant seems to take more than 30 minutes to bring out what you ordered at lunch. And it was a little cold.
Coffee for breakfast also took quite a while to come out. Housekeeping and receptionists were very nice.From$81

This hotel and staff were fantastic, I would like to give a special shout to Manoj, sorry if I didn’t spell it correctly, he went above and beyond to help is when we first got there. I can’t speak highly enough of the staff they always greeted you with a smile and were extremely polite. When we first got there and saw it was a set al carte menu I was like I will still be hungry after this but the portion size was more than efficient and was full every day and the tea is delicious. When we arrived the young woman at the desk was very informative and gave us a map of Galle which was a great help. Oh and thank you to lovely you man whom brought us breakfast due an early departure. Thank you so much for making our safe amazing. And the owners of this hotel should be very very proud of there staff I have attached some pics the fella outside the hotel was exceptional also 😊From$124

I really like this one. The mansion of the legendary Dutch navy general has only a dozen rooms. There is no noisy feeling in other hotels and it is very quiet. They are all flat, with a large courtyard in the middle, which is very comfortable. Each room is extremely large and decorated with a sense of history. The beds are oversized and estimated to be 2.2 meters. The dining was good and the waiters were polite. I just met them for Chinese New Year, and in the evening I greeted everyone to go to the yard to set off fireworks.From$127

We had an excellent stay at Ceylon Olive for three nights in August 2023. The warm welcome you feel continues throughout your stay as the staff are amazing that they take care of you with every little help. We were treated like a part of the family from the arrival and the owner Kumudu invited us to have meals together with his family, which was a great experience. The food was amazing with authentic Sri Lankan cuisine. We felt that the hotel was a hidden gem in Galle, with five-minute Tuk Tuk drive away from Unesco world Heritage site of Dutch Fort and stunning Unawatuna beach. Ceylon olive was one of the most beautiful hotels I have stayed at. The pool, outdoor shower, stunning rooms, and peaceful environment were among the best. The best place to stay in Galle. I only stayed here for 3 nights but I would love to call this place ‘a home.’ The place is cozy,the room is big and clean. Breakfast was lovely and prepared by Iflal,a manager. Swimming pool is cool. Located very near to Dutch Galle Fort. Near fruit market and local stores. You may take a tuk tuk or even asked a hotel to arrange everything for you. Could not thanks enough for mr. Iflal and his team. They made my stay was so comfortable and I feel safe like home. (I am a female solo traveler) but I really sleep safe and sound in this villa. Whenever you need helps,the staff are there for you and they really gives you the best solution. Nice place, close to the beach, tasty breakfast, cozy rooms with everything you might need. But the best part is staff, they are always super friendly, they really try to help you with any of your problems. Most of them speak English but with an accent that is sometimes difficult to understand (for me personally). They also would never refuse to talk to you if you start a conversation and it’s really really fun. P.S. special thanks to our house keeper Sapumal, very cute and polite person, he even made a towel sculptures for us, adorable P.P.S. Really enjoyed my stay at fort bazaar. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Due to the rainy weather down south I changed my plans to go to Tangalle and stay a couple of extra days at Fort Bazaar and enjoyed the spa and walking around Galle.
I was a solo traveler and felt safe and comfortable there.

A good hotel with a score of 5 and a score of 5! The boss is very warm and very attentive. Let us take a look at the room, tell us about the use and precautions of the facility, and then ask what we like to eat the next day's breakfast and when to eat. The rooms are antique, well equipped and quite interesting. Book two rooms, one on the first floor is a double room, one on the second floor, a big bed room, in short, very satisfied with the room. The next day at breakfast, the boss and the waiter often came over and asked if they could eat well and add something. In fact, breakfast should be very good in the hotels that have been eaten! First, a plate of local fruit platters, including pineapple, banana, watermelon, papaya, mango, etc., a cup of fresh juice, then served the toasted bread and delicious jam and butter. Then, come up with staple food, roast eggs, sausage and onion. The whole hotel, the room is not much, but very warm. On the doorway corridor, sitting on the sofa, you can enjoy the waves of the Indian Ocean's blue Indian Ocean. You can blow the wind from the sea and enjoy the romantic Indian Ocean sunset. On the edge is the castle's sea defense wall, and the outside is the vast Indian Ocean! It’s very convenient to go out and stroll around to find food. Going out to the left is the famous lighthouse. A short walk is a flag rock. Many tourists will come here to enjoy the beauty of the sea and the local guys jumping from the high cliffs to the sea. Going to the right is better. Enjoy the beauty of the setting sun and the core area of Haiphong. On the edge is a seafood-based restaurant called Huang Shang Huang Seafood Restaurant, the owner is a young man from Jiangsu. The winner of Tripadvisor Certificate of Excellence in 2019”, today the Ginganga Lodge is paying for a global pandemic and disastrous decisions made by the Government of Sri Lanka. It's a crying shame that Indika and his wife and all their staff should have to struggle to keep this property running. It deserves more. It deserves better. It deserves to be at full occupancy. When we walked in, we weren't sure we had made the right choice. The garden was overgrown and there was an aura around that made us uneasy. As we sat by the pool, we had very real reservations, seriously thinking about leaving. Then Mahil showed us our room. Talk about judging a book by its cover! The room was eclectic. Antique masks fought for space with antique jewelry boxes and huge flower arrangements (all flowers sourced from the garden). The room had a relaxing sitting area, shared with the adjoining room that encouraged social interactions. The AC soon had the room nice and cold. We stayed. Because of the room - and because of Mahil. Mahil went out of his way to make us feel at home. We could ask him whatever we wanted from the kitchen - and he made it happen and it was good. Mahil kept checking on us like he was our personal butler. A level of service we have rarely experienced anywhere else on our travels. He even organized an ice bucket for our evening tipple - the property serves beer, but not our favorite whisky, which we just happened to have packed! Indika and his wife, who own the property, have to be applauded for their effort to keep the property alive and kicking when all around them, the country went to pieces. Mismanagement by the Sri Lankan government on a colossal scale after the Global Pandemic had left the country reeling. The lack of fuel, medicines and gas had whatever local clientele Ginganga Lodge would have had, keep firmly away. Indika and Co., have faced impossible odds, and we believe they will come through with flying colours against those odds. They would do this because they have surrounded them with an excellent staff. The Chef made the most exquisite local cuisine and his Seafood Mixed Grill was worth every penny. We can't say enough about Mahil - he was ubiquitous, right at hand when ever you needed something. There were little niggles, of course there were. Some bulbs had blown. The power cuts plaguing the country plagued our stay (nothing to do with the property, but everything to do with the government - who also is rationing fuel so that the properties' generators couldn't run the way they should have). The sound-proofing in the rooms could be improved on... our room was right next-door to a couple who had just got married. Enough said! The garden could do with a slight trim and on our penultimate night the Tiki lamps ran out of juice. Are these niggles enough to stop off from recommending Ginganga Lodge? We had the most remarkable honeymoon at Saman Villas. I was back after 3 years and the property is impeccably maintained and after a major upgrade, which I could tell from the moment I stepped in. All home grown, fresh ingredients. We especially loved the Sri Lankan food which was surprising as we are locals but it was different, like an elevated version of Sri Lankan flavours. The staff are really the best! After all the difficulties Sri Lankan tourism has faced since 2019, it was so refreshing to be welcomed by the same familiar faces, eager to make our stay unforgettable. We visited Ahu Bay to celebrate our anniversary. It's a lovely small hotel for adults and older children (younger kids are not allowed). The rooms are small, but well appointed and very comfortable. We had a direct view of the ocean. The food was excellent. The pool was lovely, and a great place not just for a swim but to also to lounge around and read. The spa was good. The only negative was that the beach is not private AT ALL. Sri Lankan hotels don't generally have private beaches, but often at boutique hotels you get a lot of privacy at the beaches. But in this case there were men hanging around the area right outside our rooms, and it really felt intrusive. During the day every time we stepped onto the beach area there were 4-5 of them hanging around and starting at us, which made us feel very uncomfortable. Its quiet and the staff are excellent neat and well mannered. We were received in an excellent way especially after a 2 hour drive from Colombo. Breakfast was a buffet with an egg station so you won't go hungry. I had dinner one night at the restaurant having ordered yellow fin tuna which was very nice. Staff were attentive & provided excellent service. The pool is a decent size & well maintained. Overall, I had an enjoyable & comfortable experience at what is a true 3 star hotel.

By passing the huge gate of the stone wall you get into a special world where everything is happening for you and for your comfort and pleasure. Excellent food, children refused to have dinner elsewhere, well we were not against. Spa procedure at the highest level. The massage was done to me by Dulib, he was doing yoga classes in the morning. I thought to take him with me;). Our Butler Taranga is a very pleasant man-a good, the children loved him. Jesse is a local polyglot, though not our batter, very helpful in the case, for example, took us to the dive club and traded on the market. Managing Umberto, an Italian with a special view of what service should be in the hotel. He is constantly and unintrusively present somewhere near that is not normal . Having accompanied us at 5 a.m. Everything and in everybody feels a special approach and attitude towards your person! Cooks, rumservices, even cleaners and guards are very friendly and create an atmosphere of the highest comfort.

It is far from the castle and the beach, contact the hotel to call a tutu, 800 rupees round trip. The location is far from the central castle and Chinese restaurants. But the best part is staff, they are always super friendly, they really try to help you with any of your problems. Most of them speak English but with an accent that is sometimes difficult to understand (for me personally). They also would never refuse to talk to you if you start a conversation and it’s really really fun. P.S. special thanks to our house keeper Sapumal, very cute and polite person, he even made a towel sculptures for us, adorable P.P.S. There’s also a view point with binoculars on 14th floor, access is free and it’s usually empty, highly recommend checking it out

Leaving the loud main road, you wind up briefly to a perfectly serene, quiet retreat, staffed by some of the most kind and genuinely invested human beings I’ve ever met. Our rooms were great, wifi worked without a problem, and there was never any power outage. The kitchen is what really got me, though. I normally don’t eat much at hotels, seeking more local experiences outside. But during my three days in Unawatuna I did not once eat anywhere other than Thambapanni. The food here is nothing short of divine. Margarita pizza better than I’ve had anywhere, sautéed Tuna that redefined how fish could be prepared for me, hell even the base salad was masterfully seasoned and actually full of flavor. I actually got to know the chef, Lionel, just to thank him for his effort and the clear attentiveness and knowledge he brings to his craft. The waitstaff was also very helpful. Deshan in particular was so helpful, ever attentive without being obtrusive. At one point he even offered to bike into town to get some antihistamines for my wife, who was suffering an allergic reaction at the time. And the owner, Alex, even took me and my wife on a tour of his farm! This was the other secret to why their food is so amazing—aside from Lionel’s experience and professionalism, they locally source their ingredients! Alex showed us where they grow cinnamon, coconuts, bananas, and the chickens, so full and contented. Everything about this place was clearly the product of dedication and love, from the field to your plate. When we had to leave, my wife and I actually felt sad to go. And the receptionist at the front desk, having noticed my wife photographing flowers, actually made her an adorable little flower keychain from folded ribbons. Delightful location, unbelievably good food, kind and genuinely invested staff, 5/5 would do it again.

|1.38km from city centerThe hotel is a 5 to 8 minute walk from the busier beach end of the road, making it a quiet hotel which we really appreciated. The sunset from the hotel is wonderful and you can see Galle Lighthouse in the distance. All of the staff are exceptionally helpful and friendly. The rooms are well kept and housekeeping come every day, even if you ask in the evening. All rooms have A/C and a mini fridge, you are also provided with 2 bottles of water each day. There are tea and coffee making facilities. There's a good shower, with toiletries available if needed. There is fresh fruit and juice , pancakes, cereal and English breakfast with eggs of your choosing each day. A couple of days an Sri Lankan breakfast was offered. There are tuk tuks nearly always just outside the hotel, prices in Unawatuna and Galle are much higher here than other locations in SL. To get to Galle is 500 to 600 rupees, the lowest we found was 400. To Mirissa is 4000 but you'll be able to get back for 1500. There is a small pool with an outside bar looking over the sea. There are plenty of sunbeds and the pool is often quiet during the day. The only comment I would have is that the pool could be a little cleaner. It's by no means terrible and I still used the pool happily. The last couple of days the water did look a little murky compared to the previous 12 days, but the staff were aware and trying to rectify the problem. All in all an excellent stay for a good price.

The hotel is transformed from an old building in a Spanish-style outer ring, although I don't have it. Asking about the purpose of the original building, I have always told me that this was a military camp. Haha, this confidence is no one... Anyway, I like the wooden doors with thick traces of the years, the blue sky and the white walls and red tiles. With a variety of green plants, the hotel's night is accompanied by the melodious singing of the sound of the waves, as well as the passionate and psychedulous national dance... The experience is naturally printed in memory! Just talk about it, the hotel is a great place to enjoy the sunset, do not deliberate, go out!

The receptionist said the hotel was full but it wasnt the case when we checked with housekeeping staff. Rooms - The rooms are pretty standard 5 star rooms with partial sea view from the room we stayed in. Service - The room service/housekeeping was very quick and efficient but the service at the pool restaurant was very dull and unwelcoming. F&B - The food and the service at the main restaurant was outstanding. This is what saved our good views on this hotel. The manager was more than eager to serve us well. Pool - The pool is very nice- very big and well maintained Beach- The beach was nothing special. Overall - A decent hotel with tough neighborly competition.
